Can someone suggest a tactical holster that will fit a 1911 with a Dawson Rail without a light attached?

I have a Safariland 6004-5621 for use with the light (fits perfect), but the pistol moves around too much with the light removed. I tried a Blackhawk Serpa, but it wouldn't fit the rail. Too tight.

The holster also needs to be open on the bottom because I have a threaded barrel that extends .75" beyond the bushing.

I'd prefer a Safariland to keep things consistent, but I'd like someone with direct experience to let me know what will work before I order something.

Thanks!

In about 2 weeks I should be able to tell you if a Springfield 1911 with Dawson rail will fit a 6280-53.

tmzphoto,

I currently use and used in OEF a Safariland 6004/6005 533 for my 5" Government Wilson Combat w/ Dawson Light Rail and 4.25" Colt Commander w/ Dawson Light Rail BUT w/o light. Plenty of room for threads for can as Holster has open bottom section etc.

Fitment is excellent and works fine. You MAY have to adjust the tension adjustment screw which is located right at Dust Cover on my holster.

Keep in mind I use different numbered Safariland Drop legs for my SA FBI Pro and MC Operator w/ X300 6004/6005 5621

i can see trying to find a holster for discreet or concealed carry, but if you're gonna run a tactical rig, why not keep the light on the gun?

I already have a Safariland for with the light that works great. The other one is to save some wear and tear on the light during daylight high round count training sessions, but keep the same holster system. I add a quick release between the holster and the belt, so I can switch back and forth conveniently.

gotcha. maybe you can screw a spacer(s) into the holster body to fill the void.a few screws and some hard plastic tubing might get you what you need. and if your primary holster fails, unscrew the spacers and run the holster in it's original form till you can get a replacement

Check out Blade-tech and Comp-tac if the Safariland isn't your fancy. All are great companies though...

Safariland's stuff is great. I have a BladeTech for carrying concealed with the light that works great. I have a Comp-Tac on order for without the light. Should be here in a week or so.

Your right Safriland Tac Drop Leg is the best I have used to date.

Tried several incl. Eagle, HSGI, Tac Tailor, BH etc...

I use BladeTech IWB for CCW stuff and it is my favorite as well.

Tried RCS, Comp Tac etc.

Here's one of my Safariland's 6005 w/ 1911

Working in the "HOOD" 91st and Western @ Robbery Suppression detail.

What a charming neighborhood to work in. Looks high threat from here. I don't think they put all those bars up, because they did not like the view outside.

Good luck with that.:(

Got my frame back from Dawson yesterday.

Holster is a 6280-530. According to Safariland, it fits a 1911 with X200/X300 mounted via a SF MR07.

I have previously used this holster with the 1911/MR07/X200 and X300 combos.

By adjusting the tension screw on the holster, it will also (albeit not tightly) fit my NHC/VT railed 1911 and X200 and X300 combox.

It should be noted that the frame used on this pistol is the Capian M1913 railed frame.

With an adjustment to the tention screw, this holster also fits my 1911/Dawson rail/Dawson adaptor/X300 combo.

Hope that helps.
