Does anyone know if it is illegal to ship high capacity magazines to a resident of California?I have been asked several times if I would ship magazines to California.I assume there is a law regarding this.

It is NOT legal to ship Hi-Capacity Magazines to California.

OF COURSE LEO, LEA are an exception.

I've been told that if they are disassembled and labeled as "rebuild kits" that they can be shipped here to good old CA.

I read it on the internet so it must be true!

Here is a company that does this:http://www.44mag.com/rk.asp

I believe this is a loop hole in the poorly written Republik of Kalifornia gun laws.

I am all too aware. That's why I defected to the Free State of Arizona.

Like previously stated they can be shipped dissassembled as rebuild kits. Also legal to ship to any LEO.

Does anyone know the violent crime rate in California as compared to other States without such restrictive gun laws.I would like to see the numbers.

Let's keep the verbiage correct. A standard capacity magazine (often erroneously referred to as a "high cap" when holding more than 10 rounds) is one that the weapon was originally designed for--for example, 17 round mag for G17, 15 round mag for Sig P226 or M9, 7-8 round mag for M1911, etc... A high capacity magazine is one that offers more rounds and for a pistol, typically protrudes beyond the butt--for example 33 round mag for G17, 20 round mag for Sig P226 or M9, 10 round mag for M1911, etc... A low/limited/restricted capacity magazine is one artificially forced to have a reduced capacity for the sake of an arbitrary, ill-conceived regulation, for example 10 round mags for G17, P226, M9, etc...
