As they are rated by the NIJ, then they are good for their NIJ rating.

Mine of a few years ago was actually made up of Safariland kevlar panels inside Galls' carrier.

So the real questions are deciding on what level of protection you want and just how much of your body do you want to be covered.

I bought armor from them about 7 years ago...turned out to be Point Blank panels made of Zylon. Needless to say, I have since disposed of that vest. Hopefully they're using something better now, since (hopefully) the dangers of Zylon were not known at the time.
