ok,
I've installed a commander style hammer on my Springfield MilSpec; of course the factory safety wont work with this hammer...so, who make a beavertails grip safety that fit my SA?

TIA
;)

This one will work:

Springfield frames are slightly different so the usual suspects require welding up the tangs to work.

I used a Wilson (http://www.wilsoncombat.com/a_beavertail_safeties.asp).

thank you both,
the Wilson one reguires the frame to be modified right?
what about the one posted by Modern_Pirate? ..is that a drop in replacement?

I'd prefer not to mod the frame

I guess you could try one of these: Drop-In High Ride Beavertail Safety (http://www.wilsoncombat.com/a_beavertail_safeties_di.asp)

No experience with one though.

ETA: Hmm, in the fit chart is says "A" which Springfield was lumped into, although it says (Colt Models only). I'd call first to confirm.

I would go with the S&A .220 radius...and do get the fitting fixture..I've done a bunch and if you want to do all kind of blending you can or you can go carefully and will not have to do much if anything on the top of the tangs...all depends on how much time you want to put into it. I've had people ask me to fit the GS and do what I could to avoid having to do a total refinish of the frame, others want the seamless look and that requires alot for material removal and refinishing after fitting.

I used a drop-in Wilson in my Colt Officer's. It looks and works well.

This has been my carry gun for a few months. I have standardized on 1911s (what can I say, I am old fashioned) and this little lightweight officers model is easy to shoot and easy to carry..

Here's a Wilson "drop-in" on a Colt. Hopefully you can use this pic to compare the frame on your Springer, but I don't think this part will work on your gun.

Give S&A a call, tell them exactly what you have and they'll fix you up.
