View Full Version : How to Mount an EOTECH sight on a DDM4???
OK, after going round and round tryin to set up a Bushy gas Piston Rifle the way I want it, I've given up........
I'm gonna order a DDM4 already set up for the same price and do a piston conversion later on.....It'll save me some money right now on initial setup and it's a hell of a rifle from what everyone says........
QUESTION: What is needed to mount an EOTECH on the DDM4 since it has a fixed front sight????
Thanks!
Just stick it on there. If you're worried about your sight alignment (Iron/Optic Co-witness), get a mount from LaRue or GG&G.
It really depends on the model of EoTech. 553 and 557 and maybe some other models are built a bit higher to work over the FSB. Other models need a riser to work properly.

if your running a 511, 512, or 552, get a larue or american defense riser mount, this will put the irons in the lower 1/3.

This was my solution, if the rear sight was a fold down style I would have just mounted the Eotech without the riser.

I'd do the same thing as 103M if you want to keep the fixed rear.

Just take the irons out and sell it. If you want iron sights, then just take the money you made from selling the DD irons to buy flip irons. I tried every possible location I can put my eotech on my DDM4 but it just doesn't work with the DD irons so I just ended up taking it off

What they said. Mine is mounted with a GG&G and with the DD fixed sight the sight picture is too busy. A riser mount will also raise a 512 to create separation between the battery box and the barrel nut/chamber area. Newer 512s, as I understand it, have a slightly raised battery box to create this separation without using a riser mount.

i will trade you a magpul MBUS rear for the DD rear iron
Keep the fixed iron sights and get the LaRue mount.
It should come out looking something like this, it cowitnessed great and the sight picture wasn't too busy.

flanntastic,
I had to clean off my keyboard thanks to that pic(drool)....:D
That's exactly the setup I want.
I'm using the 557.AR223 EOTECH........Hope to still be able to use the DD iron sights without having to raise the 557.....
Eotech on a quick detach Larue riser mount, troy BUIS, co-witnessed in the lower 1/3 of the eotech. Keeps the eotech reticle uncluttered by the BUIS and front post. Still allows use of irons if eotech goes down. If eotech becomes caked with mud, snow etc. then pop it off with the QD mount and use irons.
mark1jt,
That's the exact mount I had an eye on. The 557 does give you a little more height than a couple of the other EO's, but I want my EO sight window as clear as possible since it has a series of dots below the main for 4, 5, and 600 yard shots based on 223 ballistics.....
This site is great! Thanks fellas!:D
Shadco,
what's your thoughts on the Eotech flip-up covers??
If you run an EoTech 516 your irons will co-witness in the lower 1/3. I leave my irons up all the time.
Weapon is a NOVESKE N4 Light Lo-Profile with Noveske/Troy BUIS.

I used a Larue mount on my DDM4

Shadco,
mark1JT has a good question. I have a set of the EO covers on order for $40 as well......Comments/opinions on them?

I like then, they keep inadvertent finger prints off the glass. The rear cover on mine is a little hard to close I have to close the port side first and then the starboard side will click in, the front closes easily.
This is the setup I went to with a troy flip and Larue riser so I can add a magnifier.
