I am hosting Andy Stanford for his renowned Surgical Speed Shooting class at the Camp Ares training facility in Altha, Florida.
The Class
Surgical Speed Shooting:
Missing is the sickness, Surgical Speed Shooting is the Cure! This is the flagship Options for Personal Security (OPS) course & the hands-on component to Andy Stanford’s book by the same title. SSS is, as the title states, all about learning how to shoot faster & more accurately. This is definitely a skills course focused on your ability to get accurate fire on target as fast as appropriate for the situation. A big part of this class is learning how fast you can fire & maintain an acceptable standard of accuracy at different distances.
You’ll be able to practice the vast majority of the drills with minimal, if any, modification on your home range even if you’re not allowed to move, set up cover, draw from the holster, etc.

Details of the Modern Isosceles grip & stance (including the WHY behind the techniques)
The defensive drawstroke
Elements of trigger control
Speed & accuracy enhancement drills
Rates of fire
Full spectrum visually verified aiming techniques
Modulation of acceptable sight picture & trigger control speed aka “gear shifting”
Transition between targets
Multiple target engagements
One handed shooting
Shooting on the move
Rapid fire precision at distance
Equipment Required:
Eye & ear pro (electronic ear pro is very helpful)
1 reliable gun*
3 reliable mags minimum*
Good gun belt, holster & mag carriers
300 rounds for 1 day, 600 for both as a MINIMUM. If possible, bring more to be on the safe side & make sure the ammo works in your gun*
Personal items such as sunscreen, hat, boots, water, snacks, meds, chair, baby wipes, etc…
The Facility
The training site at Camp Ares is somewhat unique. Training is conducted in the vicinity of the sleeping quarters. Meals are also consumed in the area and where ever needs be to support training. Unlike training at some other sites, students and instructors don't "part company" at the end of the training day. In this way, more time can be spent on the range, with fellow students or with the instructor. If you have a question pop up after the close of the training day, all you have to do is ask the instructor who will be near by. In this way, there are very few training distractions.
Of course, at the end of the training day, there is a nearby township in which you can go out for dinner, supplies or what have you at the local Wal-Mart.
Cost is $185 for Sat only & $335 for both days.
You can elect to come to either just the first or both days.
There is a $25/day range fee, and an optional $75/night fee for room and board, and three square meals a day.
This course is going to be held in September,on the 12th through the 13th.
This is one of the best values out there. If you are in the Florida panhandle or lower Georgia/ Alabama, you will not get another opportunity to train with Andy like this for a while.
