Been scouring for a while now, and can't decide. Been looking for a bag to stow in the trunk that holds around 4 rifle mags and 2 pistol mags. Seen a bunch of ideas, but what are you carrying? Preferably around 10in wide 7in deep, and as tall as a 30 round rifle mag. Need help deciding. Looking for something to deploy when SHTF. Have an Eagle E&E I use for everyday gear, just looking for something to keep extra mags handy.

Ok. Maybe I'm being a little too picky, but a friend of mine has a sneaky bag (mini) and I wanted to get something that wasn't copying him. I really like his bag, and if I can't find another option I'll get one. Good call though!

Having just spent some time doing "covert" (as in concealed armor, nothing chest-mounted) ditch-vehicle drills I am not too fond of grab-bags. I am heading down the path of a dedicated bandoleer type setup, such as the TAD Bandoleer (http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gear/gear%20organizers%20main/tad_gear_bandoleer.htm), to hopefully reduce issues with grab-bags.

Cross post from another board..

EGL needs no real introduction on this board. But I thought a stud-board post was appropriate with my current situation. This past week I was doing alot of EE surfing, for things I knew I wanted. I've gone through alot of "man bags" or "murses" so to speak, and I knew I wanted a bag that would fit what I wanted, but not with too much space so I wouldn't be compelled to over stuff the ****er.

This week I just happen to run across a couple of things here in the EE that I thought would work great. Of course, they all center around firearms/accessories.

Sometimes when I find myself on the brink of taking innocent yet IGNORANT human life on my day to day jobs, I just REALLY want to go to the range after work and relax. But as we all know, going to the range can be quite involved depending on what you want to do.

With some regularity, I can predict when these shitty days will occur, and I like to pack for work and the range when I can. Although I want to stay as organized as possible, and as OFF the radar as possible. I am in the car alot for work going to do different hospitals - and that means alot of driving, gas station stops, food stops, etc. My work has me bring in alot of gear to and from the OR so my trunk/doors are always open. This presents a big problem if I am running around with rifle cases, ammo cans, etc.

So I wanted to get off any potential radar on the days I want to work then immediately hit the range for drills.

Well, EGL to the ****ing rescue. And I had no idea Egg would be the savior for me..

First up, this bag:

What do you think is in the bag? To be honest, i've brought this out in front of 2 "like minded" individuals in the community and they never would have though this was in there:

10.5 Upper, Redi-Mod, and stock fully collapsed fits just right.

If I needed/wanted to fit another gun, here is a 12.5 barrel inside the case, although the CTR stock has to be removed:

No molle needed on the inside, no frills, just space. On the outside, it can hold the essentials for going to the range (suppressor/log/ear pro/ammo):

Its low pro, the shoulder strap is almost 2inches thick (I think) and you cannot force TOO much shit into this case. So it makes it just right for a long carry to the firing line. Or getting in/out of the house/safe etc.

I ****ing like it.

Next, for the longer weekends, shoot sessions, more gear required type days, I wanted to be able to carry all the extended session shit. Kydex, belts, pouches, targets, maintenace/cleaning, and so on...

I wanted to be able to organize it at will, but also have storage for the times I just want to throw shit in there and jam out quick.

This is called the EGL Monkey Bag? I'll have to double check. The tan bag:

I got this bag off the EE as well, and when I first saw it, I wasn't sure if it was what I was looking for. But when I got it in, talk about a sliver of fried gold.

You open up the front cover, and it exposes to very large utility pockets. You can just throw a couple of mags in there, or jam them and cinch them down:

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/4082/dsc07728large.jpg

I like this symmetric setup so I can dedicate each pocker to a certain caliber (.45/5.56) or 9mm/.308 when I go to the range, or I can do one pocket mags, one pocket ammo..whatever. It will hold what I need for a long day or even 2 days on the range:

Other pocket:

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/5830/dsc07731large.jpg

You open up the main pocket and it exposes a large internal molle panel x 2. I haven't decided how I will organize this but I probably wont put too many pouches on this, just for sensistive shit that I know I want accounted for when I leave the range. I like it alot since I can just throw whatever the **** I want in there, it lays flat, is somewhat padded, and can be readily accessible if needed. This was a quick range trip with transitions in mind for practicing, so belts, different holster, and mag pouches where jammed in. Also the mandatory stapler + ammo.

Behind each molle panel is a simple yet large pocket that you can throw shit into. I imagine i'll dedicate one pocket to Form1/4s and the other to hold my targets with my awesome 4MOA groups @ 25yards I bring home to post here for your amusement and self-verification.

And last but not least, on the very back side of the bag comes with another velcro pocket that will probably be dedicated for target accessories, shoot-n-cs just happen to make there way on this range trip. ( no pic)

The webbing, sewing, and overal construction to my untrained eye seems just ****ing solid.

I loaded it up and dropped it around on my shoulder, and let the weight of the bag hit the tension points on the straps, and it felt tight. The shoulder strap like the other bag is adjustable and thick, so its easily carried for longer walks to the line/car etc.

This is my 2cents from joe blow civi, but I could definitely see this gear crossing over to anyone who needed quality shit. EGL is good to go in my book.

I like those bags, a little too big for what I'd like to stash in the trunk. Anyone had any dealings with the Maxpedition Remora?

I don't have one of these bags but they look pretty good, HSGI has a great reputation for building bomb proof nylon.

For the UNDER $20 choices...

County Comm's EOD bag is covered in MOLLE (except on the narrow sides), and the interior has 2 large pouches on one side (holds 2 M16 mags easy) and a single large mesh pocket on the other.

http://countycomm.com/minebag.htm

LA Policegear has a similar bag, called the Diplomat MOLLE Ammo bag. No MOLLE on the bottom, but on the sides. The inside has 2 large pockets on one side, velcro on the other (perfect for the Maxpedition pistol holster, double pistol mag pouches, and a G19. $12. I have one with an EGL med kit strapped to one side; inside holds a Spectergear chest rig, loaded with 3 PMags, and the interior pockets hold 2 M16 mags each, a G17, and 2 spare G17 mags.

http://www.lapolicegear.com/dimoambag.html

I have both, the CountyComm one seems more durable. The velcro on the inside of the LAPG bag is more versatile with the various hook and loop pouches out there.

Pic with both, as well as the Diplomat small bag (junk) and the County Comm Bail Out bag (current car bag).
