I just picked up a new one recently. Haven't gotten it to the range yet, but love the trigger, the balance, and the fiber optic front sight.

However, on the MP forums I'm hearing about a number of Pro pistols with feeding and extraction issues. Have no idea if this is common, or if it's the classic case where only the few with problem do all the posting.

Has anyone else tried an M&P Pro series yet? Has it been reliable for you?

I don't own one. I do know an IDPA Master who has seven or eight thousand through his without a hiccup.

Shooting it convinced me to get on the list for one of Todd's pistoltraining.com guns.

I love mine. Trigger is very nice out of the box, the rear sight is a big improvement over the ones on the standard M&P, like the fiber front sight and the slightly longer barrel/sight radius helps a lot. It is my IDPA SSP gun.

I used one for eight months and made Master in SSP using one. With that said, at about 1,000 rounds it developed FTF issues. I transitioned away from the M&P line; however, they are awesome weapons!

I've shot over 1000 rounds through this pistol including the day light portion of a Hackathorn class. So far no extractor problem. This gun was intended for competition and the sight is fine for that purpose.

I have a Pro and a 9L. The 9L has been 100% reliable in 8K rounds. The Pro had two early failures to extract in the first 200 rounds. It's a weird extraction because the failure occurs with the slide out of battery about 1/2", all that's required to fix is removing the mag locking the slide to the rear and shaking the empty out. I was running a much lighter recoil spring and a Storm Lake match barrel. I had my gunsmith (Sam Hatfield) remove the extractor, and install a secondary extractor spring inside the main extractor spring and it did it once more in the first mag on round 3 I also went back to the stock recoil spring since Sam Hatfield thought that it might have been unlocking too soon. 250 rounds later it hasn't done it again (450 rounds total through the gun). I think it may have just taken the springs a few rounds to settle in. S&W knows of the problem but I'm not quite sure if even they have a fix. What I don't is if for some reason the extractor and/or it's spring is different from normal 9mm M&Ps.

Speed Shooter Specialties is making a hardened extractor for $45 which should cure the problem. I've ordered one in case I might need it. It isn't Production (USPSA) legal so if my Pro continues I'll install this extractor in my 9L and install the 9Ls extractor in my Pro. I only bought this Pro because who knows when the 9L will be Production legal.

The three failures to extract with the Pro were two with Atlanta Arms Ammo 147gr subsonic match reloads and one with American Eagle 115gr ball.

Warren dot on dot night sights on my 9L:

Plain black Warren rear with a Speed Shooter Specialties .195" tall x .115" wide front, I have a new shorter custom front from Kenny as well but haven't installed it yet. It's .188" tall x .115" wide because with the .195" tall it hits too low with 115gr factory ammo.
