So I finally found the model M&P45 that I wanted. S&W sku# 109307, which is the shorter 4" bbl, but it still has the 10+1rd capacity, no mag safety lock (which is THE most ridiculous option I've EVER heard of), and no thumb safety, in BLACK.
Anyhow, I DO wish they made this exact model in FDE, but they don't. The FDE models, which are this size, either have the mag safety feature, OR the thumb safety, both of which I do not care for. I wonder if S&W would make me up one just like I have now, but with the FDE frame as the only modification?

Anyhow, here are my questions for now, with more to come:

1. Who owns the Burwell "Sharkskin" grip panel, and how do you like it? I always wind up desiring more grip/tackiness where the lower part of my palm/pad touches the grip on most handguns. Are these things worth $32 each?

2. Could someone recommend some good 4" M&P45 holsters? Maybe a typical FBI Cant type holster, and some other designs would be fine too. I've never been a kydex/polymer/etc kind of guy, but if you know of something really great, I'll consider it.
I usually tend to prefer LEATHER. BLACK leather in this case. However, by all means, NO thumbreak/retention devices. I can't stand them and don't really need them. What are YOU guys using? Whether it be polymer or leather? I'm interested.

3. Could someone briefly explain to me what is done to the triggers, when a trigger job is performed on the M&P's? I mean, is there ANY type of polishing/stoning of contact surfaces at all, (as there is on a 1911), OR is there absolutely none of this at all on these striker fired guns? I'm just trying to get a basic working knowledge of how these things work, and the more I break it down and look at it, the more I realize, but talking to others really helps that much more.

4. What spare parts should be kept on hand for these striker fired guns? The striker itself? Other partrs? ETC???
I'm just trying to determine what parts might need to be kept on hand, and also what the life expectancy is on some of these parts...

For the holster I prefer the Comp-Tac CTAC or MTAC. I have Burwell apply the sharkskin texture to each of my grip inserts and use the texture on my duty pistol also.

Thanks NCPATROL. Sounds like you are shooting a polymer, and not leather holster for your M&P, but I'll double check to be sure.

As for my other main concerns here, if anyone else here can answer the following questions, it would be very much appreciated:

1. I need LEATHER HOLSTER recommendations for the M&P45! (4"bbl, full grip)
Preferably "READY-MADE" holster, but will consider custom makers" as
well. I just need to know WHO is making them, or WHO HAS made them?
As stated however, I strongly prefer a PRE-MADE/READY-MADE holster for
now, at this time!

2. Has anyone here COMPARED a Burwell trigger with another M&P trigger job??
I mean, do these striker fired M&P's and their triggers usually get the SAME
treatment from various gunsmiths? Is there stoning or polishing of contact
surfaces involved with M&P trigger work, OR is there absolutely none of this
type work done on the striker fired triggers?

3. Is the Ameriglo Sight Tool the ONLY M&P sight tool made? Or, is there
another one made/available???

4. Does anyone have some good up close pics of the various M&P sights which
are mounted ON the gun? It would help if I could see them on the gun first.

5. Who else does top quality M&P handgun work? I know of Burwell (is it JEFF?
Burwell?), and then I have heard about a "Bowie" or something? Any others
who do QUALITY M&P Handgun work guys??

Thanks for the help guys. I sure do appreciate it!

The ctac and mtac are both kydex holsters. The Mtac does have a leather backing.

Dan Burwell and Dave Bowie are the two "go to" guys when it comes to trigger work on the M&P. I have Dan work on all my M&Ps and have compared his work to Bowie. For me, I prefer Burwell's trigger jobs. Bowie's felt a bit heavier than the Burwell job.

As far as holsters go, here's some that might fit your requirements:
Galco:

High Noon Holsters:

K&D holsters:

Here's a pdf from Burwell for the trigger job if you want to do it yourself. All you have to do is click "I Agree" and you're good to go:

Here's a link to a dedicated M&P forum that might be better at answering your questions. You would also be able to see various pictures of pistols with the different sights installed.

Hope this helped some.

Bowie with Ameriglo dots on a compact M&P, it looks the same on the .45. Installed using the sight tool.

10-8 (Hilton Yam) rear sight on my old compact. We installed it using a delrin rod and tapping out the old sight, didn't need the sight tool.

Don Hume is another "ready made" holster you're seeking. Either order online or you can pick one up at an Eastman Gun Show, there's a Don Hume dealer that always bring hundreds of holsters to the show.
