View Full Version : shotshell carrier any ?
which shotgun shell carrier / shell pouch is the best ?
i am planning to purchase one but still confuse on which one to acquire.
thanks !
That depends. What are you using it for? Three gun? Turkey shooting? Skeet? Warrant service? Which shotgun? What ammo? Bro, you've gotta give us something to work with.

For competition use it's hard to beat 3gungear.com, Mark Otto products and the California Comp Works shot shell caddys.
I use products from all three for 3gun competition.

i am using a 590 for three gun match.... we will be using a 12ga.
aside from the side saddle i need something on my belt that keeps more ammo.
GTG shell holder from Holsters Plus, here:

I have one that I bought over 10 years ago made by some offbrand 'tactical gear' company called Raine(IIRC) and its still going strong
Ah, for 3-gun, here's a new product which is awesome:

The fellow who designed these is a Benelli gunsmith extraordinaire in my area.
It serves up 4 shells very smoothly for weak-hand reloading -- definitely smoother than the California Competition caddies.
Nicely compact, and also note the design of the belt attachment in the pic above -- works much better on CR Speed-type velcro belts. The back of the Cali caddies are solid and when you have 4 or 5 in a row on a CR Speed velcro belt, there's not enough velcro left exposed to get a good grip on the underbelt.
Also all aluminum vs plastic construction.
Which brings us to the downside -- they ain't cheap! I already have 5 of the Cali caddies, and when I played with a prototype of one of these I wanted to switch over to them but couldn't justify the cost...
As a cheaper option - the Cali caddies do work well enough though. I've been using them for quite some time. Only thing I did was sand down some edges to make them more comfy.
