View Full Version : Colt Tactical Carbine in .22LR
Just looked and handled a new Colt Tactical Carbine in .22LR. It has a permanently attached flash suppressor to the 14.5 inch barrel, flat top with removable carry handle, collapseable stock all of which sits on a dedicated .22LR lower receiver. Asking price $649.00 Mags were $39 each. The owner stated that he had a version with a tactical forearm rail for another $50. Neat.
It's licensed to Walther he was saying and I did not check to see if it had a chrome lined barrel. My guess is that it does not.

I saw one yesterday. Nice setup, mag is very nice.
Interesting markings...when did Walther start making Colts?

Not sure but I would not think Colt would have the surplus capacity to make the little carbine. I did not see the magazine. I was tempted but I THINK I'd rather have a dedicated upper as opposed to a new piece. If my nephew had any character I'd consider buying it for him.
There are some in stock at Scottsdale Gun Club right now for cheaper....
It's made by Umarex, an airsoft manufacturer.
I don't know what's wierder... gun owners going gaga over airsoft company-manufactured, semi-auto, 22LR replicas of real guns (a la GSG-5 and SIG 522), or airsoft companies starting to make a lot of cross-over firearms.
In PA, there's a store called Tanners Sport Center. They had them for 529 ea and the spare mags were 23 ea.

Was at a gun show in Sharnville Ohio (Cincinnati area). I saw four of them there. Mid $600 range. Interesting gun, but not interesting enough to part with the $.
Also saw a selection of AR's for a change, Colt's LMT's RockRiver, S&W and BM's.

I'm very familiar with Tanners Sport Center - ALWAYS great prices it seems. The store here is overpriced but everything is in South Louisiana oddly enough...

is the barrel one piece or does it consist of a rifled steel insert within a steel barrel sleeve like the P22 handgun?

I was up there the other day. His prices are usually the lowest around locally. I've bought several firearms from him.
ETA: Seems like even 22s are getting very evpensive nowadays.:(

The FH is not fixed. It has a special wrench to take it off, included with the rifle. Here are some more pics. Will get these out to the range for a complete video review soon and see how they shoot.

Looks like the selector lever has to go all the way around to the "auto" position to fire semi-auto?
Also, the Mag looks HUGE.... a problem for firing prone.
I'm trying to figure out if this has any advantage over a dedicated .22LR upper.
