I did a search, but I did not find such a thread. I thought I would kick one off for fun.

I have a Russian SKS and noticed that it appears to have been painted. The bolt, slide cover and mag well. Anyone ever see this before?

I have a Russian with a black painted bolt/carrier. Matter of fact, the whole thing appears to have a paint coating of some sort on it.
My Chinese Type 56 Carbine and it's Egyptian Cousin... A Rasheed Carbine. The Type 56 was made in 1968 at the /26\ Factory and the Rasheed was made in 1967. The Type 56 was imported by Navy Arms in the 1980s and added a small scope rail. I believe it's for the Chinese Type 89 Scope. Also pictured is my Soviet SKS Carbine produced by the Tula Arsenal in 1953.

Is you bolt blued? If so it might be an Egyptian Contract rifle. I believe they had laminated wood stocks.

She's a former East German!
It's a Soviet made SKS that was later given to the DDR Nationale Volksarmee. Has all the DDR stamps....
