Good Morning,

We will be hosting another 3 gun Match in August. The dates are
August 17th through August 22nd. That's a Monday through Saturday.

We will offer optional training from the 17th through the 19th. If
you would like to attend training when you sign up indicate it on the sign
up sheet. We will hold one training session on Monday the 17th and one on
Tuesday the 18th. It will consist of a 8 hour day, doing a round robin on 3
weapon systems.

August 20, 21st, and 22nd will be the match dates. There will be 6
slots available for sign up. The AM or PM squads for each day. Saturday at
1600 will be the trophies and prizes.

We will be providing all weapons, ammunition, and gear if requested.
If you plan on shooting a civilian weapon you must provide your own
ammunition.

A more thorough LOI will follow this flyer and sign up sheet along with
stages and round counts for those bringing their own ammunition. Please fax
your sign up sheet to 703 432 7352 or send it to me via email. You are also
more than welcome to drop in and hand it in.

Hope to see you on the range!

That's pretty neat, Robb. Thanks to all of you folks for helping out those young Marines. :)

This August match is now open to the public.

I shot the 3 gun match today at the HRP ranges, great match! :D

At yesterdays match Looey and I made up Team Va Arms Co. We were squadded with two active duty Marines assigned to the USMC Quantico Combat Marksmanship Team (both were very solid shooters). The USMC CMT is wanting to get much more into competition (like the US Army AMU). Hopefully in the future maybe even at this August match we'll get the use of some of the bigger ranges and be able to make much bigger stages and have shots out further like 800 meters etc. :)

If you at all are interested in shooting this FREE 3gun August match please sign up. You'll get a day of free training and ammo if you're using their guns. What more can you ask for?

Looey won Tactical Irons yesterday, congrats dude! :D

I placed 4th in Tactical Optics yesterday, not too bad since my last match was May 10th and I had hand surgery on May 11th. I shot 100 rounds of 9mm Friday night before the match (first time shooting a handgun since May). Interestingly enough after having the surgery I find that I'm no longer holding down the slide stop on my M&Ps with my left hand and keeping them from going into slide lock. I guess my left side hand isn't rotating as much as it had and getting as high on the gun as it used to.

I'll be there on the Friday PM relay thanks to FTS. I'd sure appreciate any tips and tricks from folks there as this is my 1st match and I've never shot the new shotgun.

I believe the Tackleberry shotgun method is acceptable Lebowski.

I'll be headed down friday night to shoot saturday. I can't wait, this will be my first match outside of my local range matches. Of course, the stock on my 870 just broke so I'll have to use my FP6 or use one provided my the USMC.

gotm4 - got any tips?;)

I'm shooting Friday morning.
I hear there's a stage where we'll have to run 100yds.

The Match should be really good I was out there yesterday and the stages look very professional except they wouldn't let me walk around and through the stages something about not being fair or something. Also I would like to thank robb for fixing my gun LWRC barrell nut. very quick and works great now. I'm also shooting Fri AM.

No problem on the fix. I'll see you tomorrow, if we're self squadding let's squad together. 3 of us from VA Arms Co are shooting tomorrow morning.

I just finished the match a little bit ago.
Good match.

It is pistol and shotgun intensive. Only 1 stage where you can use your own long-gun. There are some fairly technical stages that will give better result to those with USPSA stage planning skills. If you have your own shotgun rig I recommend that you bring it (I have about 1/8 inch of torn thumbnail due to the dump-bag approach to shotgun reloads :o).

LaRue Tactical is on site providing free grub- it's flat out awesome.
Thank you Mark for making the trip up from Texas with great food.
People can say what they want about Mark, but he came out to support the USMC and the shooters, and that's f**king awesome.

And guys. . . it's all about Stage 5. I'll leave it at that

ETA- bad news, the prize table got deep-sixed by lawyers. It sucks, but in the end it's still a bunch of fun at truly minimal cost.

Great match, challenging stages and a think 2 of my co-workers are now addicted. F2S when I shot the big rifle stage today they said you bested me by .3 sec! It was fun and the LaRue chow was excellent it's awesome that Mark donated all that and his time. Mark Finger said that he hoped the OSR would be out in a fewweeks, damn cool rifle. Next match is Sept. 19th but this one isn't free.

Damnit. I was hoping my time would make up for my 2 FTEs from other stages!

Yeah FTEs are gonna hurt. My worse hits were a few Ds on some pistol targets where I was going too fast. I got both flying clays on the that one pistol/shotgun (shoothouse stage).

Great match! Marines ran it like clockwork. Everyone try to drop a note to the Commanding General thanking him and encouraging more Marine/civilian events. Robb, I missed one clay!!!! After practicing at 200 on my 8" plates, those targets looked HUGE!

Good seeing you too. Now I need to chrono my rifle because after 300yds I have no friggin' idea what it's doing!

Wish I had time and use of a chrono, but no joy. The FAL will get to see the light of day Sat.
Rule .308. I fell in lust with the Larue OCR. With Cavalier and the rumors of our getting use of longer ranges at Quantico I believe I must figure out a way to get a more accurate 7.62 MBR.

Video of me shooting the pistol only stage at the Quantico match on Friday.
My time was a little slow for me, but a decent time none the less.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuXuZHAvVGU

Thanks to A. Rogers for filming it.

And since in another thread were discussing ammo weakness and power factor, the ammo I used was 115gr Federal American Eagle. My gun is a M&P Pro, stock recoil spring, plain blakc Warren rear sight w/custom cut SSS .188" tall x .115" serrated front sight. Mass. compliant trigger spring (aka a heavier than stock trigger pull about 5.5lbs). Mags are M&P mags with extra power SSS mag springs and Arrendondo mag extension (22 round capacity).

Yes it did. My squad was only allowed to shoot one stage before the match was called due to the weather. :(

However, from what I saw and heard from other shooters I was very impressed and am looking forward to attending this match again next year.

This was my first competitive shoot ever, thanks to Virginia Arms and the Quantico Weapons Battalion.

That being said, how do I get results? I bolted after I finished to get some stuff done here at home, pausing long enough to snag some of Mark LaRue's outstanding barbecue.

Lookin good. Any more videos?

Was that a stop plate at the end or did the film just get cut off early?

It got cut off a little early. I have no more videos. The last target was a 20yd plate or a paper target depending on how one shot the stage.

I placed 5th overall (164 shooters).

1st was John M. (I don't know him).
2nd was Ernest Langdon
3rd was Barry Dueck (of Surefire)
4th was Pat. M. (a friend of mine, focker beat me by .43 points! :D)

Failure2Stop you were 12th.

The other VA Arms guys that shot it:
Jim B. = 15th
Matt W. = 93th
Matt R. = 80th
Jeremy S. = 64rd

They didn't break the divisions down, each stage just shows a time (which is the corrected time per your hits etc).

Thanks for the results. I got SMOKED -- bottom third of competitors.

I think I'll be visiting VA Arms in the near future to pick up some new gear to practice with.

Still can't thank you and the WTBN enough for your time and effort to get it up and running.

I just helped promote it by passing out applications for the match and spreading the word about it.
I wanted to help with the match training and help run the match but we were far too short staffed at the store.

The real thanks goes to the USMC/Weapons Training Battalion/Combat Marksmanship Team.
