View Full Version : SBR fever. What should I get next?

Having had my LMT 10.5" for a while I never shoot my 16" or even 14.5" permed guns anymore. What should I get next? I was thinking another complete gun or another upper. Any ideas?

You guys are both on! I do in fact want an SBS 14" 870 as well a Noveske possibly. just not sure which Noveske. I have a N4 light carbine I bought the summer of 07 and really enjoyed.

+1 for a Krink!! Everyone needs an AK variant. Might as well make it an SBR.

As an owner of a 14" 870, I can say... don't waste your time. As useless as the shotgun is, the Short barreled shotgun is even more useless.

I've shot mine once in the last 4 years.... and that was only because the Fudds I was tagging along with are going thru a sad shotgun phase.

I must admit that they had some cool "flight control" 00 buck that made my gun slightly less useless... it patterned well. But it's still doesn't make up for all of the other shotgun shortcomings.

I'm thinking maybe some quite short in 6.8 Spc built by Wes of MSTN

Thank you for the input. It has been a long time since I have shot one and frankly cannot remember. I just think I should have one though thinking and needing are not the same. Also I don't care all that much for shotguns except for bird hunting. I really hate hunting deer with buckshot in "restricted" areas. I have not been overly impressed with it in that roll. Not to say it is'nt an effective weapon but I would rather have a rifle.

This might be a little too similar to your LMT, but if it were me:

BCM 11.5" Upper Reciever Group (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-11-5-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-m4-11.htm) + The BCM lowers from G & R Tactical = :D

What does Grant get for the BCM lower do you know? I know Wes Grant was running the 7.5" Noveske barreled guns he built though finally settled on I think 12.5 as being "ideal" I suppose to use a sound surpressor it probably is the best length.

I won't lie. I miss my AOW Remington and I say go for a 14" 870.

On another board Kevin with KAC is saying Knight's is looking at either coming out with an 11.5" SBR SR16E type or upper in semi. Not going to be cheap but sounds like it will be sweet. That's what I am saving some money for already.

Or a 6933.

I would try to find one of the 14" Remington 870 USSS guns. They were floating around last year in some numbers and you could get them for ~$500. It's a 14" police magnum with serviceable ghost ring sights, 1 round extension, and Speedfeed stock. Very good deal for what you are getting.

I threw a sling and a used Surefire foreend on one of those and just ran it through a class with Louis Awerbuck. It ran like a freight train. Louis was curious as to what it would do at longer range. It does not seem to be much of a ballistic compromise given that I zeroed at 25 yards with slugs and then hit steel plates at 100 yards with no holdover.

It's not as HSLD as a 10.5" SBR but it is exactly the same length overall as a 16" carbine. It's considerably easier to handle around doorways than a 18" gun if you're looking for a home defense gun. It also retains the ballistic power of a shotgun whereas an SBR has questionable terminal ballistics depending on ammunition.

Obviously you have a lot of options and whatever you get will just be to enhance a pre-existing collection. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the suggestions so far.

Holy crap, that is the bee's knees. I was literally just about to start a thread asking whose dick you have to suck to get a hold of a SR16 CQB upper.

Now I know. Thanks. Ill be saving my pennies.

If you havent bought anything yet the two i would choose between are a MP5 clone (not a K) and a 11" or 12" AK. For some reason ive never really cared for the krinks and think a 11" or 12" barreled version would be a better weapon. Same goes for the MP5K, while it does look cool the fullsize just seems more useable unless your trying to hide it.

I think they put it on the back burner. Have Grant build you a copy with a BCM 11.5 upper.
