Interesting read.

It conjures up all kinds of thoughts regarding advances in technology, weapon size and weight, methods of carry, techniques of movement, training, and even the definition of "acceptable" accuracy itself.

My dad went to Basic Training at Fort Ord in 1967. They were taught snap shooting from the hip with air rifles, then did it with their M14s.

By 1993 (when I went to boot camp) this was no longer a technique that we were trained in.

Yes, this was known as the "Quick Kill" technique.
