BEFORE ANYONE POSTS...This is dangerous territory for a thread...indeed I'm already worried about it, so let's please limit the responses to those who have either done formal testing(such as DocGKR,) and those who can point me towards the proper resources for my own research.
So I want a 16" barrel. I want to hunt deer and hogs. In the near future I'll be ordering a Dillon 550B and will begin reloading...though premium commercially available ammunition is a must.
I realize that 6.8SPC has a minimal drop in velocity from a 20" barrel to a 16," how does Grendel fair?
Super long range shooting isn't a priority, maximum terminal effectiveness from 0-300 yards is.
Given those parameters, will 6.5 grendel offer me anything that 6.8spc does not?
