Let me know what you think of the new Search function. It will be a little slower for a couple of weeks but the results and the interface should be much better.

Are you one of the worker bees? I'll give a look here in a bit and report back.

We're probably going to roll back, if you do on in time to see the new one, let me know what you think about the results and the interface. It will be slow.

I'm one of the 3 man Search team for army.mil.

Please don't tell us you re-invented the internet (Al Gore) :D

No, but we could Al's help getting more memory for our servers. 32 gigs of RAM just ain't cutting it. The 16 processors are nice though :D

Seems good to go, I haven't messed around with it much in the past but I just checked out a couple things. Only problem I saw was searching "09s" returns this:

application/vnd.xfdl;content-encoding="base64-gzip"... OZhBNIf6u/P4YQrhr++r3CSs0WOYeD2C36cC3MzvzyWu3ZH2OwbA1KMPQPwMgH9Ii/G3mANNkS6Z. +k8ag/cofd0evD/dv0/G/fV9ztpDPf6gxO9D4nHjHPxvDIxvZ/09s+wh6iWR+VqWKPYTmT+q9GPo. ...

I don't really use the search function enough to really notice a difference. I do have a complaint about AKO in general. It takes forever for it to load up.

Yup. Sorry, fellas. We've been working all weekend on tuning the new Search.

I could understand if it was on my personal computer, but often it will not even load up from my work computer or takes 15 minutes for the log in page to load over here. So maybe if you know someone who knows someone......................

That's a different team but I will do my best to pass on your concerns.

You're an AKO guy, huh? Small world. I've worked with several former AKOers. Still work with two or three of them where I am now. They tried to get me to come down there once upon a time, but I didn't want to have to fight all the traffic.

OH the Horror of the AKO :D I was in charge of setting up accounts for Guys in my Platoon in 06 it was painful to say the least .I was hoping they would make it better

Well, Search is getting ready to be better. The logon to AKO itself is not.....liked by the rest of us either.

Take a look now, guys.

Tried it and the search seemed a little slow, but the hits it returned seemed to be quality hits. However, I am wondering why only six hits per page? The less the hits, it seems the more I would be searching and thus taxing the engine's resources, correct?

Littlelebowski

Updated and online. Let me know what you guys think now.

Searched "microsoft EUA" and the engine seemed much quicker and the hits returned were in a list of several dozen, much like a Google or Yahoo! search. However, several seconds after the page loaded, it reverted back to the same six hits per page.

I'm working on changing that result number but I assume you clicked for the next 6 results?

Notice the speed and quality of the results returned?

kry226
06-17-09, 19:23
Yes, I clicked for the next six. Speed's good, quality is good, but I think the best part is it seems a lot easier to read with the better layout. Good job, bro.

Old search's response time was 1-3 seconds. For a while the new one was unusable - 120 seconds or more. Now it's 0.2-0.4 seconds with better results

OK, fixed a few things this weekend. More results by default.
