Take a look a the Burris Tactical scopes. Fairly nice scopes for the money.

Check out the Pride-Fowler scopes that are made for .22lr and have a built-in BDC to get you out to 200 yards. These scopes are relatively inexpensive but have great glass and give you a unique and useful reticle calibrated for .22. This is going to be the next scope I purchase.

They have 2 models, a 6x40 fixed, and a 3-9x32 variable. Here's a link to their site, and also a link to one on Midway so you can see ratings and street prices, which seem to hang around $300 for the variable.

.22 Rimfire Scope

I will only suggest what I have personally used.

Bushnell Banner .22 Scopes 4X32 Fixed Power - Decent/ good scope for less than $50.00

Nikon Pro-Staff Fixed 4X32 Fixed Power Scope - Quality Scope, Just over $100.00

I purchased a Satin Pro-Staff 4X32 Scope from SWFA shipped for around $135.00 a couple of years ago. I used it on two different guns and it holds zero well and has clear glass.

If you don't mind spending the money, I have used a friends Leupold Rimfire 3X9 scope and it is very nice. He mounted it on a target rifle and shoots 100 Yards plus with .22LR. For around $300.00 it would be a first-rate scope.

Personally, I think for the money the Nikon would problably serve your needs just as well. I own several Nikon and Leupold Scopes and the glass/ quality is very comparable (similar models). They also make the Pro-Staff model in a variable 3X9 as well.

P.S. I hope you like your CZ. The problem that I encountered with mine was finding the F*^$%#@G Magazines. It took me around 2-3 months to find 5 extra magazines. Also, they cost around $35 for the .22 LR mags when I bought mine.
The plastic ten-rounders were around $10 bucks less.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

I just ordered from Mid-South, the Nikon Prostaff 4 power scope ($95)
a set of high mount 1" rings ($10) (452 owners say high are necessary due to the bolt handle throw)
and
four each, magazines, five round, polymer ($25 each)(ouch!).

Hello there gotM4,

My next CZ is going to be that exact model. The 452 Varmint. I was wondering with that scope and bipod, about how heavy is the rifle? 10 LBS?

What are you thoughts on the .17 HMR? I have shot it in several different rifles, but do not have any extensive experience with the caliber, I am leaning towards the .22lr or the .22 mag for the heavier rounds available.

I used to shoot Jackrabbits with a Marlin .22 WMR and it was a great round out to about 150-200 yards. Have you done any hunting with your .17 HMR?

Thanks, I appreciate any feedback you may have.

P.S. Your rifle is REAL nice.

My digital scale only goes up to 4lbs. But my 452 Varmint using the hand-guess o'meter says it's somewhere near 8.5-9lbs. I like the .17HMR, it's loud and I'm soon having the muzzle threaded for a YHM .22 sound suppressor. The wind does blow it around a bit due to the very light projectile but it's a neat caliber. No hunting yet, trying to find a place to shoot coyotes and ground hogs here in VA.
I did the Eric Brooks trigger on mine too, got it down to 1.5lbs crisp, safe and almost non-existent overtravel.

Nikon Prostaff fixed 4x scope arrived today. I don't have the rifle yet, but I've looked through the scope.

I'll update when I actually have the CZ 452 and have fired a round through it.

I put a Bushnell 3200 10x Mil-dot on my 452 varmint and have been pretty pleased with using it considering the price. I think I paid $170 shipped for mine last year.

This morning.

That is a damn fine looking 452. What stock do you have on it?

Thanks.

Thanks Evan. It is a McMillan Varmint stock, it isn't cheap but it is exactly what I wanted.

Thanks for the information. I agree the .17 HMR is a neat caliber. On the few occaisions that I have shot it I really didn't notice the noise. And I have heard others comment on the little .17s being susceptible to the wind as well.

As for shooting coyotes, there are a few varmint hunters who frequent the shooting ranges in my area. I will ask if any have used the .17 HMR on coyotes. I'm mainly going to be hunting jack rabbits with mine. They make great reactive targets (+nothing goes to waste in the desert) and can teach you the basics of hitting a moving target too.

Good Hunting

P.S. If you ever make it to the SW part of the country, their are not too many ground hogs. But there are MANY jack rabbits and coyotes everywhere. In SoCal we are practically being overrun by the coyotes (eating pets and trying to eat little kids frequently:mad:). Sometimes I wish I could moonlight as a professional coyote culler, Ah! That would be some fun!:D
