Is this something new and un-known, or is it something worth looking at? My Brother in :aw brought me the SG catalog he got in the mail Friday and he is all excited to see this. I never noticed it, but that does not mean it wasn't there before... but I warned him that if it was the "Cat's Patuty"... everyone would be talking about it.

Great new product or lame old duck? I say give me almost 2 Pmags for each one of those and I'll be happy.... but I resist change at all costs!

They're selling them at the Quantico PX. I'm the curious type and unmarried, so my money is all mine and I picked one up for the sake of seeing what's what.

Bottom Line Up Front:
1) This is not even one of my limited G-2 would call a scientific experiment. I had only one sample, and no honest-to-Jeebus control group. We just manhandled it and shot the piss out of it. In the interests of not feeding the rumornet, please take the below with a sizable grain of salt.

2) While it performed like one would hope a magazine should, it's somewhat heavier than a USGI magazine and generally costs 2x what a windowless PMag does. General feeling, one can get equal or better performance for less money.

3) There were 4 instances of the sliding portion spontaneously closing while the mag was being refreshed with rounds. Can't definitively say as to whether or not it was inattentiveness on the part of the user or a material issue inherent to the item.

4) I give out 4-6 windowless PMags (current generation models, the 3rd, I think? What can I say? Marines like free stuff.) to the winner of the "Gunfight" we run during an RCO package, so PMags were also introduced to the group, and were run alongside my EasyMag and USGI mags with a combo of standard and anti-tilt followers.

This past week, I ran an RCO package for the scouts and HQ bubbas of a Marine Light Armored Reconnaissance company, total of 54 shooters, and I asked 5 Marines to help me beat the thing up. All experienced 0311s with at least one combat tour under their belts.

I shot 60rnd of PRVI Partizan M193 (my own ammo) during the live rehearsal of the unknown distance segment, and then handed it off to my PSOs. Each of them fired 60rnd of M855 gov't green tip. It was no different than a USGI mag when it came to inserting 30rnd on a closed bolt; doable, but takes effort. No feed issues were experienced except for those obviously explained by other factors; total of 3 double-feeds and an FTE, all confirmed non-mag related (hell, I watched 2 of the DFs get induced by operator error, ffs). The mag had issues dropping free of the mag well of the M4 carried by the senior PSO.

The Marines looked in askance of the channels that the sliding opening operated on, citing it as possibly being susceptible to fouling by environment alone; specifically, it was felt that any time saved loading mags would be lost on the back end with cleaning in excess of that of a USGI, HK, or other magazine of more common design.

To sum up, the general consensus was that one is better off spending the money on a Lula or similar speedloader. Having the entry slide back on one's hands, sometimes spitting rounds onto the ground in the process, was discouraging. No body really cared about the extra weight because it's a non-issue in the grand scheme; that's all ammo. The agreement was that of a similar discussion held on this board recently regarding HK vs. PMags: why spend more money to get more or less equal capability coupled with extra weight and greater maintenance needs.

That's it. I'm going to keep running this thing, regardless, but I don't feel compelled to buy any more. I'll stick with my PMags and the 4 Lancers I've procured. Hope this helps somewhat.

The Easy Mag has been covered here last year or so. Pretty much the same conclusions that Riverine has covered.

This was "discussed" a while ago in two threads that quickly went downhill due to the participation of the OP in a less than civil manner.

My thoughts in this thread-(HERE (http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=16451&highlight=EASYMAG))
Another thread that I stayed away from but with the same result-(HERE (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=16687&highlight=cammenga))

Pretty much the final verdict- if you fill your mags from loose rounds and don't mind paying more for a heavier mag with no enhanced feeding properties, rock on.

Wow! The first thread you linked to was mind-boggling. Did that one guy forget to take his meds? I was impressed with how much class and patience you guys demonstrated in your exchanges with him.

I must be missing something in the I-Net skills dept, because I went to the search tool before I posted that and punched in Easy Mag and got a bunch of random posts in return that did not appear to have anything to do with it.... so after finding nothing promising I posted it. Sorry about that, I tried to be self reliant...fail!
