Did a search which yielded little; would like to get some feedback on any chest rigs or vests that work well with the curved AK-style mags, this will be for my vz. 58 rifle. I'm looking primarily for maximum ammo capacity in a simple layout, something along the lines of the South African M83 rig. Relatively slim profile, not too cumbersome with maybe a pouch or two for other gear or a canteen. I'd like to keep it as lightweight as possible. I've looked at several products right now, including the original South African vest, it only provides 3 mag pouches for the 5.56mm R4 mags, which I believe will be too small. So far, the Eagle SF-30 seems the most suitable:

Here's the SADF M83:

Any othe suggestions?

The vz-58 magazines are going to be hard to pack a bunch of in a standard chest rig.

The ridge running down the back of the magazine makes them hard to fit into standard AK mag pouches.

I used a 3 cell Specter Gear Mk.1 chest rig for a class that worked fine. The Mk.1 allows you to use a multitude of magazines, FAL, M14, M16, AKM, AK-74, or vz-58.

If you want something like a LRRP appropriate rig that's going to pack a shit ton of magazines, you will probably have to look for some of the modern Czech military stuff, which is available, I know a couple places in Canada that usually have it.

I have a Poineer M32 in OD and like it. But I have not been able to "put it through it's paces as of yet. Also the small little pockets seem to be a bit over the top, but that can be fixed with a stitch ripper and a cigarette lighter...

Rainier arms has a TT Custom rig that they stock but do not advertise. It is worth a good look.

Thanks for the input. I did end up going with the Eagle product. Having owned some of their stuff, I trust their consistent quality and no-frills design. I'll do a small review when I get a chance.
