LMT MRP who has one and what do you think?

I ordered one and it's suppose to be here from LMT by October of 2010. As you can tell I'm patient. My question is for the guy who shoots his rifles, what do you think about it? I ordered a 16 inch upper but I might change the order to a 14.5 and perm. attach a vortex.
Anyone had issues changing out barrels? I do have an SBRd lower and might consider buying a 10.5 inch barrel for it some day too.

Patients is part of life I guess.
Heck I'm still waiting on my Gemtech Halo to get to my dealer. It's the new model that fits over the vortex. I ordered that forever ago. It will show up eventually. With todays market patients is important.

I have a LMT MRP. I got it just before things went nuts (before election).
It is my favorite AR. I have three others, all Colts. The barrel removal and replacement are easy, but not quick. LMT customer service is also top notch in my experience. I would have a hard time waiting that long. Good Luck.

I have a 16" piston LMT MRP and I love it. No problems whatsoever. I am dearly hoping that LMT will release the .308 MRP ASAP...

I have two that are great rifles. I should clarify that my 6.8 MRP has not been put through any real test (680 rounds) but the build is excellent. Blame it on the AK's... :D My 5.56 has been a great rifle with zero problems in 2600 rounds down range.

I have the rifle length MRP. It is an exellent shooter, but a bit heavy compared to my colts. To helI with that 2010 BS. I got mine from Rainier Arms. They get them sporatically. Get on the email list. Buy it as soon as you get the in stock email, then cancel the other order. I got the email in 2 weeks back in Feb. They sold out all of their MRPs within 48 hours.

Just don't use the wrench that came with the rifle. That wrench loses calibration easily(made in China) and can snap your screw(bolt) in half. According to LMT the bolts are design to break at 200 inch-lbs. This is designed to protect the monolithic rail.

Get a quality wrench like this one.

I don't own an MRP but have fired a few in both 14.5 and 16" lengths. The are definitely nice but a bit too front heavy for my tastes. Definitely heavier than a similar length rifle with a quality aftermarket railed forend.

I have two MRP's, both rifle length with 18" SS barrels. My only complaint would be weight, they are heavy. Besides that I would have to say they are the finest AR's I've owned, have been stone cold reliable, and just plain work well. The MRP is stunning machine work, beautiful work. Highly accurate and great customer service. I'm no expert but sort of the rifle guru on my team and I have recommended MRP's to all of my teammates. I surely don't talk bad about Colt's, Noveske, Sabre, etc, I just really like my LMT. The one with no magnification is my patrol rifle-Norcal911

Some thoughts:
* Yes, it is a bit heavy, I recently compared it to my JP 3-gun upper which is about 1 lb lighter even with a heavier 1-4x scope. Note I had added a 3x magnifier on the MRP.
* This one is rifle-length. All the rail can be nice, notice I can easily mount my 12 o'clock light setup, and I like being able to get my support hand far forward. (you'd probably be getting the CQB length upper though if you're planning to run as an SBR too)
* Beautiful solution for permanently pinned muzzle devices. The barrel above is a chrome-lined 14.5" with a pinned Phantom. Since the barrel just slides right out the front, you don't have any of the servicing issues that come with pinning the muzzle device on a regular upper.
* Monolithic top rail is nice for mounting optics.

I have one with a 14.5" and Voretx and another barrel in 6.8 SPC. I am gonna shoot them both today. I plan on doing a test and swapping barrels and then putting it back on to see how much the POI changes. I will post my results later.

i've had one of the earliest MRP CQB length uppers (without the DQ swivel hole at the rear) since they came out and it's one of my favourite uppers. i didn't make much use of the main reason for having one - the barrel switching feature - until more recently when i picked up a spike's .22LR barrel for it. i can use my spike's .22LR conversion bolt in it from my .22LR dedicated upper and shoot .22 through the MRP. when doing so, i do have to swap optics as the POI is different enough to warrant doing so. this way, i only have to carry the .22LR MRP barrel and bolt instead of a complete upper to convert to .22 at the range. plus BDM mags of course.
