I have seen plenty of pics of the PWS FSC556 itself, but cannot find a pic of one mounted on an AR. Anyone care to oblige?
Feel free to include any thoughts/reviews you might have

Here are a few pics of the FSC30, NOT a FSC556, so take this with a grain of salt.

It looks like a monster on a pencil profile, but makes the 6.8 feel similar to 5.56.

The additional noise is minimal to me shooting, however guys standing behind said it's blasty (they weren't to the side, but rather at 5-7:00 behind me). Not like a full-on brake, but certainly more than A2.

You will read plenty of good stuff about the design, and just a few criticisms...whether you will like it or not depends on your purpose.

ETA: a little searching turned up...

I just mounted my FSC556 w/YHM threads to my LMT piston upper so I took some pics. I was fortunate enough to not need to use the peel washer because hand tight using a crush washer was 20 degrees out as per the instructions. I grabbed a wrench and indexed it right to 12 o'clock w/o requiring a peel washer. Here's some pics:

How much extra length did that add to your barrel? I'd like to add one to my 14.5" barrel, but don't want it 17" long.

Jer

Looks like it adds just over 2.5" to the length.

don't use that with a can and a crush washer, you will get a end cap strike. You need the peel washer. Crush washers sag when heated

Damn and here I thought I was doing good getting it aligned w/o needing to use the peel washer. It's quite snug at 12 o' clock so I assumed it would be alright.

Well if you're actually going to be using it with a suppressor then I would definitely stick to instructions to the "T." I would actually go one step further and ship your upper off to either the manufacturer of the can or, if they won't/can't do it, I'd ship it to someone who has lots of experience installing QD mounts for that particular brand of can.

That same info was given to me by USMC03 when I asked about getting my own SF MB556K QD silencer attachment brake installed properly, and he has a lot more experience than I do with all of this, so I listen to him.

Just a thought...

you can try it again. I was about half a turn away when it got really hard to turn. but I made it with a little arm muscle. I even shoot full auto with it . hasn't turned after 500 rounds.

Which one? The fact that I used a crush washer?

I used a crush washer on mine. first time it wasn't "crushed" enough so I reinstalled it and ended up tight at 1/2 turn left. I applied more arm muscle and finally reached 12o'clock and it hasn't moved since.

It needs to be more than snug. I was afraid I would strip the threads but I didn't.

Well, it's tightened enough now that I too was concerned about stripping threads because it's quite tight. I'm a bit concerned now that I may have to use the peel washer to avoid any issues later.

I've never been the fan of peel washers and was I would be fine with this but the thought of a potential end plate strike scares me.

Is it ok to pin this flash hider on a non-sbr 14.5 barrel ?

It would exceed the minimum requirements so I don't see why not. As long as it's properly attached permanently then it should be alright.

Here's mine on my Mega SPR project.
Peel washer wasn't all that bad.

DOH!!!

I never thought of that. I just installed my other YHM hider on my 6940 with a crush washer but havent shot it yet.

I dont know how I didnt think of that.....it seems obvious now, the weight of the can will pull the front down as the washer heats up and gets soft.

Thanks!!

If they have enough requests for the suppressor mount versions in a .30 caliber the will make them. I like mine and would like to put one on my .308 so email them if you would like to see them made.

Not the standard FSC556, but the Quickcomp FSC556.

I would but the can I bought is a .30 cal so it came with the .308 QD FH. If I buy a shorty upper for my AR10 I may be in need but not sure if I will do that now. If I decide to move ahead with it I will email them about needing one.

So glad for this post. I have planned a while back to put this on my future AR. The brake looks real badass and Noveske said they could put it on for me since I live in Mass. I think it is better than nothing because it works as a brake.

Nice, but loud in tight places and helps to keep the muzzle down and you on target.
