Thinking of dressing up my M&P15A with new plastic, probably in some kind of digi pattern. Don't need any special features, just the standard designs in something other than the basic black.

Where can I find a good range of choices?

Thanks.:)

Thanks Tim. And yeah, I've actually got some lying around, but based on past results I'm not much of a Rembrandt. Was hoping to find something factory-made, but am only finding solid-colored items looking around the web.

I'll post pics next week of the new camo-stocked 870, to show the kind of thing I'm after.

I think Midway has some AR furniture in Camo.

Along the same line as others, I'd find a camo dipper local to you. They can dip just about anything these days...heck the local guy here is starting to dip European deer mounts and it actually looks great. I think you'll find the prices better than replacing all your furniture too.

Funny thing, at that umlautarms website, in one of the pictures for
the multicam CTR they show an AR with the CTR stock, P-mag and a
multicam Magpul MIAD grip, but there is no MIAD grip shown for sale
on the website. Only a regular A2 grip.:(

Yeah, this is the kind of thing.

Although it's not digi, looks pretty good. I would be using regular mags though. This is all I need, $125 for the set.

I think Midway has some AR furniture in Camo.

All various solid colors that I could see there.

I'm thinking again about the Krylon though. I've already got a cheapie handguard that I could use as a guinea pig. If that turns out OK, then do the buttstock and pistol grip. Might look into one of those stencil kits so I wouldn't have to rely on my -- ahem -- somewhat limited artistic skills.

Leapers (aka UTG) makes chinese rip-offs and generally poor quality products. I have not sampled their furniture but I would not recommend anything made by them. Their prices are cheap for a reason.

Thanks for the tip. And yeah, some of the items look kinda cheesy, even from just the web pics.

They've got a TD battle grip though, so you still have an option outside the A2 PG.

Thanks for the link, Dunderway. I got a set from them: middy forend, TD grip, and CTR stock. They just showed up in the mail today and look pretty nice. When I get home this evening I will take some pictures and see how they look on my rifle.

The CTR and TD grip were FDE when they came from their respective manufacturers. That should make for good wear: wherever the camo starts to come off, at least there is a FDE base that will still blend with the pattern. I will have to inspect closer later but it appears on first glance that the forend, however, used a std black set for the base. That's slightly disappointing, but who knows how much of a concern it is. I have no idea how well these will wear.

These are going on a middy of mine which will eventually be a lightweight build. I have a BCM middy upper on now but will soon get its barrel turned down to .625"

No problem. Post some pics, and let us know how it holds up down the line.

Overall I would say that I really like this furniture set.
I think someone obsessed with fit and finish would be disappointed by them (pictures below), but I am not one of those guys.

All pictures below were taken with a set of Proppers in official Crye MultiCam as the background. Umlaut states that the furniture is all done by a subcontractor who is also licensed to use official Crye MultiCam and based on how well the furniture blends in with the Propper gear, that seems evident to me.

They say that a water transfer printing process is used, but I don't really know much about that method. What's interesting to note, however, is that the pattern separates at the seams. For example, take a look at the top of the CTR:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5862.jpg

This doesn't bother me, but it's worth noting. Otherwise, the pattern is quite continuous, even looking consistent over the dimensionally complicated body of the CTR.

The process also seems to leave a micro pattern in the solids, almost like a moire pattern. This isn't a camera trick though, this pattern is actually visible to the naked eye up close. Unless your face is right up in it though, you won't notice it:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5862-pattern.jpg

There are some spots where the full finish doesn't look like it completely took to the furniture, like the edges of the ribs in this photo. Note the tiny specs where the pattern is missing, although the specks just show a light khaki base rather than the black color that these handguards started with. I don't know if that means that the pattern was applied in layers, but it would seem to be the case

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5863.jpg

Here you can see where the finish is flaking off completely from the TangoDown's trap door. This is completely expected, however, as the door is a soft, pliable rubber. There's no way you're going to get something to stick on it:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5864.jpg

But however the vendor applied the camo, they even painted inside the plug:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5865.jpg

And the inside of the handguards have a misting of color as well:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5868.jpg

I was able to scratch the color off from the metal heatshields with my fingernail, but it doesn't come of the actual plastic furniture this way:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5869.jpg

The pattern actually goes down into the vent holes of the handguards which is a nice touch. Note again the specks of missing pattern on the ribs:

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff330/byrong-tpi/DSC_5871.jpg

Overall I think the furniture looks great and blends right in to other MultiCam:

Like I said, I'm quite pleased, especially because I know it's a better job than I could do with a rattle can. That said, those of you who are anal about fit and finish might be turned off.

Great pics -- thanks ! ! !

Too bad about the specks on the HG ribs. Otherwise tho, looks pretty yummy.
