View Full Version : Recommend me a bandolier or mag pouch system

I am only looking for a way to carry mags. I am not interested in full blown vests with 6-8 individual pouches...Just something I can grab and go/ toss around my neck and shoulder maybe clip on my waist and be done.

Right now during my three gun, I am using my jean pockets and 1 old issue 3 mag puch with the cover cut off and an engineered way to connect it to my belt.

Thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Eagle makes a good bandolier thats holds 6 mags 3 on each side or you could go with some type of drop leg rig from one of the good nylon gear companies like RealSOE,Tactical Tailor,High Speed Gear or Eagle. And if you still can't find anything you like you can check with EGGROLL and he could make you something oneof to your specs.

I would strongly recommend what I use for a grab and go magbag. I use a Maxpedition Thermite Versapack. The main compartment holds 5 30 round mags with Ranger Plates. On the sides, I hold two double stack pistol mags.

It is a strong bag that can be slung over your shoulder, or straped around your waist and down on your leg like a drop pouch.

Strong recommendation.

Chris,
Check this out, I don't own one but it's on my list. Everything I have bought from Diamondback Tactical (Battlelab nylon) is Great Quality! All 100% made in USA and i think it's pretty low-pro and very adaptable + you can get in in Multi-cam for no extra cost!

Good luck deciding,

I use one of these
Eagle FB Style M4 MOLLE Chest Rig: Black

You might find the Eagle "Patrol Bandoleer" to work for your purposes.

Can someone explain why that patrol bandoleer is not listed on Eagles website?
Is it a special contract item?

That alone is a good reason to pick one up. Not to mention, even exposed it would likely go largely unnoticed. it would be great in a non-tactical color as well. With a little bit of creativity is could function as a great grab-and go with things in it in addition to the magazines it was designed to carry. Ha, I just talked myself into ordering one!

The one change I would like to see would be Molle webbing on the sides, instead of the pistol pouches, so users could attach whatever other pouches they though they might need.

I've been using these for . . . as long as Galati has been producing them. I have three of them (one for the truck, one for the house, and one for gun games/classes). They may lack the pinache of the k00l kIDz gear, but they work. For securing to your torso, there is another set of D-rings on the lower corners that you can use for a strap or 550 cord (I use the latter). They are also very reasonably priced.

There are some topics on AR15.com with lists of most of the similar products on the markets (I posted a bunch of them myself), but you need access to the archives to see them (which I don't have or I'd post a link).

You might also like to use a couple of these for 3-gun (or other activities). They are inexpensive, ambidextrous, and they work well.

I'll do so later tonight. I took a spare holster and mag pouch I acquired over the years and mated them with one of 'em to create a go-pack, if you will.

Simple and to the point. An Eagle patrol bandoleer, an Uncle Mike's sidekick magazine pouch, and a holster of unknown manufacture, which I acquired 8 or 9 years ago. Holds my Browning Pro-9 and four magazines for it, not counting the one in the gun, and four AR mags. With this set up you do have to have increased muzzle awareness. I would not use this set up, if I had a choice. I'd use the other bandoleer and my belt rig. However, if I needed to grab and go in a hurry, this is what I would grab. The idea is everything is right there, readily accessible.

I'm glad this got bumped back up.

I got my patrol bandoleer, and I'll try running it in my match this month, I think. The only thing right now that I don't like is that it only has one belt strap. I'd really like it if it had two, one on each end, rather than the single in the middle. Or maybe even better, all three so the end user can choose what level of attachment they want.

Otherwise it seems to be made with the same quality we all have come to expect from Eagle. I would have been surprised if it wasn't.

Rob,

I know this is an old post but how has your Eagle unit held up and how did it work in the match? I'm looking for a second bandoleer and would like this one to be American Made. I have a 5.11 unit that is well made and works well. Thanks.

Would 20 round magazines stick out enough to grab them from this bandolier? Also, would this work well for carbine classes?

If you need to you can put magpul's magpul's on them. They work great. I had that BFG bandoleer and it did not work well for me. Its made well and carries a lot of ammo. I'm too round!

I have several of Eagles bandoleers and a Black Hawk bandoleer. I like the Eagles better. I used them in a class along with a paddle for another magazine. By day two I ditched the bandoleer and used the paddle may pouch and my pockets. The bandoleer is what I use to store my mags. 4 AR and 2 pistol mags. It you use the keeper/s on the back of the Eagle or Blackhawk it will work well.
