Mongo, just curious. I saw your post in the Colts only thread and was wondering what lower you have on that LMG? Is it an M16 or one of those rare none property marked M4 Carbine lowers?

M16A2 lower. The LMG lowers are the same as regular RR M16 lowers except that they do not have a marking for Auto since the gun is either safe or full auto , no semi on the open bolt gun.
Thanks for the info! BTW, I checked out the vid on your LMG. Very nice!

Mongo, is that a FN model D on a second pic?
Nope, its a Kg m/37 which is the Swedish BAR. It uses the same receiver as a 1918 but the Swedes retrofitted to have a quick change barrel. The gun is in 6.5X55 and shoots very smooth. My gun was made in 1927 which means it started life as a Kg m/21 and was changed to the m/37 model at some time in its life. The gun has not been refinish and the bluing is original and all the serial numbers match (and the Swedes serial number ever part). I own all the accessories for it except the clip on night sights. I have several guys in Sweden looking for them for me. The amount of support equipment is extensive for the gun and has been fun tracking it down and collecting it.
Kg m/37 movie = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxrSPmUkIEY

I just need Stickman to come down to Texas to take pictures of my guns that do them justice. How about it Stickman, you would even get to shoot them.

Here is some info to give you an idea on how the trigger group works on the open bolt LMG set up in the M16.
As you can see in the diagram, there is no typical sear surface on the hammer like you would see on a M16/AR15. The hammer becomes the sear for the bolt carrier, hence it holds the bolt carrier in the rear position until the trigger is pulled. The hammer is then held back until the bolt carrier completely closes and is tripped by the bolt carrier. The open bolt carrier has a sear notch on the bottom of it. Putting a standard carrier in a gun with open bolt trigger group will yield a run away gun. Also using the open bolt carrier in a gun with standard M16 trigger group will lock the gun up solid and you will have to remove the take down pins and wiggle it apart (seen one guy do this). There is no forward assist on the LMG since when the bolt closes the gun fires and it would be really dangerous to be push the carrier home with the forward assist when the gun fired and cycled.

Thanks MOngo! Ive always wondered how open bolt AR platforms worked--Simpler than I thought.
I wonder if the IAR has something as simple even with the semi feature...
Do the LE "Colt M4 Carbine" marked lowers (Auto) have restricted(LE/Export) markings on the other side?
Do the LE "Colt M4 Carbine" marked lowers (Auto) have restricted(LE/Export) markings on the other side?
the LE guns do- 6920, 6921, 6933, etc. but colt's actual M4 carbine receivers just say "property of the US government."

Sorry I shouldve been more clear. I meant the M4 carbine on Colt's LE website which isnt US Prop Marked but at the same time is a full auto carbine (Model RO977).
Here are a couple of links. One of Colt's LE site and the other of a past thread on painting AR's where Surf posted a pic of his on post #24.

SBR or MG paperwork is the same just the cost of the item is the only difference.

Ever plan on getting an Ultimax? Or do you already have one? :D I hear handling of these, esp the newer ones, are unbelievably good. I also hear the gas tubes are adjustable allowing the operator to set ROF according to preference.
Pretty rare & unusual and out of my price range but you could always use an anti-tank gun http://www.lazertanks.com/solothurn4sale.htm :D

Unfortunately I am not a dealer and all the Ultimaxes are either Pre samples or Posties.

Well one criteria I left out was I like MGs that are also not too heavy. I've always wanted a Solothurn but at 120+ lbs and ammo at outrageous prices it is not in my future. I have considered towed AT guns though.
Oh ok. That's unfortunate. What else do you have? Ive been curious about the supposed M2 carbine... The full auto version of the M1? would you happen to know if there is any difference in appearance other than a switch I guess?

True. Ammo has gotten rather expensive. I have a couple of M1s and even in simple semi, they are fun to shoot. Magazines are notoriously unreliable though.
Man, that is an awesome collection. The kind Id like to have. Hands down, you own this thread! :D

I know of many collections that make mine look like a beginners set of MGs. I tend to go for quality and rarity so I don't own a MAC or even a standard M16.

Here's a picture from a couple years ago. At one time I had 4 transferable 9mm subguns: a sear in a DOJ HK94, an AR15 RDIAS with a 5" 9mm upper, a full-size RR Uzi carbine and an RR Micro Uzi.
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/8190/4subguns.th.jpg (http://img43.imageshack.us/i/4subguns.jpg/)
I decided that was a bit too much, so I've sold the HK and the Micro UZI. I sold the RDIAS too but bought a Group Industries M16A1 to replace it. Still have the Uzi carbine.

Here's an old photo of me shooting one of my favorite SMGs sometime between 95-98' at Fort Campbell.
http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/MP40.jpg
The MP 40 had been sitting the arms room for years and never fired because we had no magazine until I purchased one!
Here's another old LMG found down range in Astan.
http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/unidentified_mg.JPG
http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/unindentified_.JPG
Found it at another team house last week. Its a old French Mle 1922 that used stripper clips as the feed device from the side (there was a box magazine version also). FH and bipod is missing, caliber is 7.92x57mm (used by the Czech and Chinesse ordered guns) but no Czech/Chinesse markings but Arabic. Other calibers were 6.5 MS, 7x57, 8mm Lebel and 7.5mm French.

Wow, Im surprised the Taliban/Insurgents actually have ammo for these things...
FOrgive my ignorance but those calibers seem quite rare unless actually produced and smuggled in from somewhere near the area.
Stay safe! keep up the good work.
Future mods may include a D.I. rail, KNS pins, Magpul trigger guard, ARMS 40L, LaRue/Micro T-1 for the RR AR-16, may go with a Stermwerks FNC mount and red dot. Maybe a B&T mount fot the MP5 with a micro.

That's a beauty....I really like that Enfield sight. Have thought about trying to same my $$$ up in order to get a Sten. Not sure that I want to drop that much $$$ though. I remember when they could be had during the ban for about as much as some of the preban AKs and ARs were selling for at the time.

Just curious, you really tryin' to reach way out there and touch something with the BUIS mounted up there? I'd imagine she shoots a little high at 100 yds!:D

Unfortunately the ARMS setup raises the top rail and if the BUIS is put on the receiver portion of the rail, the Eotech makes it inoperable. I would have to take the Eotech off to use the BUIS. Too slow if the SHTF. Where the BUIS is now, yes it shoots high, even with the front sight as high as I could adjust it. The one thing I did find was that the large aperature ring lined up almost perfectly with the Eotech ring, so if the Eotech went down I will just line it up in the center of the Eotech viewing area and it works fine. Not ideal, but will work until I replace the rail system.

My newest gun!!! It is not a factory Colt M16. It is a Colt AR15 A2 RR (not a SP1 gun). But I am still very happy. Very fun and sweet to shoot.
It was made Full Auto in 1984 and not ever tested tell I got my hands on it. I will get more pic. of it once i get it all fixed up with new upper and new stock!!

I went gun shopping yesterday for a HK 93,33 or 53 Sear gun so I could run the sear in my HK MP5 SBR. I ended up with a RR HK53 Swing down lower, double push pin gun! It is a Fleming gun. I am not sure wen the 93 was cut down to a HK53, but the gun has been in gun safe from 1988 tell now!

Sory about the bad pic. Used my Cell phone to take the pic.
great looking weapon. Kinda sucks that it's a RR..It'd be nice to be able to switch it over to other calibers as well. IMO.
Of course if you already have a sear then.....great find on the RR HK53....

Thank you. I was waiting a sear gun, but I will take a swing down lower any day over a sear. I will be looking for a sear one day, or a sear gun because I have that HK94 I had cut down to a MP5 SBR. I just got to good of deal on this swing down gun not to take it!!!
Well that will work out great then. You'll have the RR gun, which is great because you have the whole weapon registered instead of just a little piece of metal. If you need to repair it you're good to go. Then when you get a sear you can look at getting something fun like a belt fed as well. although with the Beta mags you can still run the heck out it!
just a couple .... a mg42 and a Lage m-11 9mm

Awesome pictures guys! What is the cheapest you can buy a full auto M16 A2 lower receiver? Would it be cheaper to try to buy one at like a knob creek machine gun shoot instead of online from someone like autoweapons.com? Not that i can afford one any time soon.
There are deals out there. NFA is still not 100% Internet and local can do you good..but that is patience.
I have to say I started with what would be the pre-cursor of the folks at autoweapons.com for my firstNFA in the mid 90s. For me it was a NIB A1. Van took me by the handevery step of the way and now have a few, just based on his dubunking the myth of FA(NFA) stuff.
Class group but A2s are a more rare bread meaning more $$. Keep eyes open and perhaps watch www.sturmgewehr.com.
This is one of the most abused uppers I think in the history of man.
Started life as just a plain Bushmaster, a few barrels and uppers later she is still stroking.

It's doing me right for now. The gun is a new '85.
I'm sure the Lage left side folder feels the best, but I'm lefty and it covers the trigger guard. The MP7 style one is nice and compact, but doesn't look like it offers too much of an improvement.
I may look into the Mini-Uzi style.
Oh, and b/c I hate pic thread posts w/o pics:

"AR/M16: The Mr. Potato Head of weapon systems!"
Is it an optical illusion that I don't see hammer pins on the ARs in these photos?
MGI lower with changeable magwells.
Here's my issued HK 416. Select fire, 10.3 inch barrel in 5.56mm. I'd like to have a T1 optic, but the EOTech is issued and that's what I have to use. No real complaint. Knights rail covers, and Surefire light on the other side that you can't see in the picture.

LMT 10.5... The Strikefire does hold zero in full auto but I'm saving up for an Aimpoint Comp m3 just to be sure

12.5 BCM build... The Eotech Xps2 works just fine

MGI lower with changeable magwells.
Thanks. Did not realize the changeable mag well covered the hammer pin. Makes sense though. I think an MGI lower with a RDIAS is the way to go for a civilian full auto that is going to see heavy use.

Well, I didn't see any of these, so here is one.
A Saiga S12 select fire I built for a customer last year.
12" barrel, folding stock, left hand charging handle, AK front sight, custom handguard mounting system, etc. It uses a standard AK FCG, with the selector going down from safe to auto and then semi.
It will run cheap bulk pack birdshot all day long, emptying a 20rd drum in 2 seconds.
I also made a 5min demo video, it's on Youtube.

WOW..! Now THAT is IMPRESSIVE..! 'Post '86 gun for a Dept. or something..?!? Very nice indeed..!
Yes, definitely a Post-86. Built for an SOT FFL with an LE Demo letter.
For those that don't know, Nate is a well known smith (particularly in the Saiga world) and I can personally attest to the quality of his work. That happens to be my Saiga in the pictures above and it does run great. A very fun gun!

This is a SWAT lower( Colt F/A) with my 7.5" upper. Runs perfectly with a heavy buffer and pistol length gas system. It gets the gas tube cherry red pretty quickly. It is wearing a cheap fakepoint and no BUIS but this was an old picture.
http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv125/heritage755/IMG_0051.jpg
I used to have a 7.5" upper on my M-16 but after replacing 5 of these I moved on to slightly longer barrels for beta mag use.

Yeah I would imagine that some mag dumps with a beta would melt them pretty quickly.

"AR/M16: The Mr. Potato Head of weapon systems!"
gorgeous
I got this MK right before a deployment over a year ago, looked like it had never been fired. The original owner said that it wouldn't run and just wanted to get rid of it.
The guys over at Accurate Ordnance wanted to build me a integral suppressor for it so I sent it off to them with instructions to do what they wanted with it. I told them I wanted the stock adapter for it but other than that was open to suggestions.
They worked with a highly respected design engineer in the Suppressor industry that had designed one of these type cans before and it is a work of art. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, plan on going out this weekend.
I will post up some video when I get a chance but so far I couldn't be happier with this gun and it's new look.

1. They are super smooth
2. Are very well built

Details, man details. Who made it? Any historical provenance (ie in a PD armory, etc)?
Congrats on that Thompson. Very nice first transferable. I think a Thompson will be my transferable after next to purchase. An AUG is up first.
It's a West Hurley 1928. Came with both vertical and horizontal fore-ends, 4x's 50 round drums + 3x's 30 round stick mags.
Dealer I bought it from took it in from a private collection, and the serial number is not listed on any of the resources I have checked. Seems most of the Thompson "Collectors" really only bother with the Colt's. The Ultimate Thompson book only even bothers to list Colt serial numbers and their known origins.
So......since no one can prove otherwise, I just tell people it was used in the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre. When they ask "Wow, really!?", I say "I have no idea, but it sounds cool huh?".
