I have never heard about this until now. Says the groups are tighter despite the barrel being over 3 inches less than the M-203.

Anyone seen these up close?

I'm pretty sure its made by HK. The barrel swings open to the left side. I've scene some photos of them mounted on HK416's.

Yea, my guys fielded them last month. It is much better than the 203 but most of us still have the M79s on the trucks. It is all about the purpose of the gear. One does not always replace the other.

I always loved the flexibility and capabilities the M203 gave me as a squad leader, but the weapon it's self is a piece of shit. It ALWAYS was malfunctioning and visiting the armorer (or myself) to be repaired.

I am glad it is finally being replaced.

God, I can't wait for somebody with some juice to get rid of that POS PSQ-18 and replace it with something that doesn't weigh a pound and doesn't break when you look at it with both eyes at the same time.

The 79 is great. Having it break open the way it does gives you several projectile options that aren't available for the 203. Also, firing it feels very natural. Just point and shoot. With the 203, I always had to use the sights to hit anything and it never felt good.

Our main use for the 79 is up it the turret. It gives our gunners all those options that I mentioned above. It is always nice to have options both lethal and less-lethal.
