Hey guys,

I was at a gunshop and saw a SCG that was all blue, had an older style grip safety with a raised ridge in the middle of it, and I don't think it had a mag funnel. It was blue and had noncheckered grips with Colt Medalions. What was I looking at? It was lightly used (looking) with a price of $1100.

Oh, and it had a standard Colt Safety, no extension.

If memory serves me they were built in the early 90's on a limited run basis. They just brought them back recently. The new ones are like this but with fixed sights and are blued. I believe the early ones had no magwell.

These are the one released a couple years back and are in current production.

I bought a Combat Government (not Special) on GB last week; picked it up Friday. For whatever it is worth, my price was less than $1000. I think the pistol was made in 1983.

Greg, I remember when you and I were talking about 1911's and you convinced me into buying a Colt 1911 for my first one. I went to Colt's website and looked at everything. I feel in love with the Special Combat Government.

Being in California I was able to get a XSE, NOT a SCG. But that's ok. I still love my XSE. I took her out for the first time yesterday.

Someday though, I will have a SCG. Hard Chrome, 45.

Very nice. I looks like an older SCG with and aftermarket hammer and a King's Gun Works safety.

I think those parts are stock Colt (which they may have sourced from C&S. I have the exact same parts on my enhanced officers. I am thinking about putting a drop in kit with a Vicker's Commander hammer.

Looks great blued! There aren't many out there... I don't remember if those were the grips... The beaver also looks like it was worked nicely. Hard to tell at the angle though. My 38 Super is a very accurate 1911, and shoot as well as many of my Baer's, etc.
