View Full Version : Am I wrong to want a Noveske?

I have been on this forum and on the internet searching and researching my first purchase in the evil black rifle world since around the time I left home to visit the wonderful world of Iraq. I have bothered Grant and some other folks on here more than I probably should have. Asked all kinds of questions about Daniel Defense, LMT, Noveske, etc. and keep getting all kinds of ideas on which direction to go. I always come back to Noveske though. Is that wrong, am I obsessed? I probably won't get the okay from my wife to purchase another rifle anytime in the near future (unless it's pieces to build one or a DD XV, unless that is my first purchase) so I keep saying buy quality the first time and I won't be disappointed. Ever since I saw the N4 Light Low Profile and started e-mailing Noveske (Misty has been putting up all kinds of e-mails from me too) no matter what I looked at (DDM4, LMT, BCM, etc.) I was comparing them to the Noveske. That being said you can't even find them and when you do someone is trying to gouge you for one or it's not exactly what you are looking for. That's when I start looking at building my own (like a BCM) or start looking at other companies (LaRue, Colt, etc.) I guess I should just wait until I get home and get a chance to actually put my paws on some of the stuff I have looked at and then decide but my spare time and the internet aren't making that easy. Sorry for my ramble. Just want to make a good decision. I'll go back to reading threads and try to be quiet...lol

Is it wrong for you to want a Noveske? No, I want one really bad too.

Does that mean you won't be served well by another rifle like DD, BCM or Colt? Nope. Depends on how much you want to spend.

Noveske is great and there nothing wrong with wanting one. I do, just don't have the funds.

The others you mentioned are also excellent quality, so you can't really go wrong. I have build two with BCM uppers and they are excellent. One day maybe I'll have a Noveske, but until then I'm happy with what I have now.

Noveske is quality+, and it may have a edge including in accuracy. For most of us it who don't have deep pockets it may not be worth the premium.

I've been collecting funds too but all but given up hope for a VIS. I don' think they really exist anymore. :D

No, there is nothing wrong with wanting a Noveske.

I want a N4 light shorty, but living in a no fun zone state makes that impossible.
My wife doesn't understand that I still yearn to be the young Marine I was 25+ years ago, neither does my worn and busted up body.
But the voices in my head do!!!:p

Noveske has been getting in quite a few products on their website lately. You may want to keep checking there to avoid the price gouging. Last I checked they had 3 complete N4 lite rifles in stock and 3 different uppers.

Noveske makes great products and I love mine but its debatable if most people really "need" that good of a barrel. It's probably overkill for most, including myself, but I love them :D

I had the same obsession but could only swing a N4 Basic Recce Upper last OCTOBER. I was not in the market at all for another when I ran into a N4 carbine with DD 7.0 rail just rec in trade at my local fun shop. When they quoted a price same as the DD M4's just in ($1599) I melted the plastic. I suffered from the same obsession. And I'm just a recreational shooter and hunter with these things. Their true capability is way beyond my needs. (and they have both printed sub moa 5 shot groups @ 100yds)

But I've got a 20 year old Army bound and I've noticed after passing the 50 year old mark I have gotten very focused on scoring high quality guns to pass onto my shootin' sons. But you're way to young for that psychosis. :D

All that irrationality out of the way, I'd get a bird in the hand and today and I'd be leaning DD M4. They are very very slick.

Not at all. In fact, the moment they start listing the one I want as available, I'll be right behind you.;)

Nothing wrong with that at all. It's quality. I got mine because I wanted to have my first AR be top notch in case I couldn't get another.

The only thing I've shot that compares in overall quality, fit and finish is the LaRue. (I know Messrs. Noveske and LaRue both felt a disturbance in the force when I wrote that, but it's true.)

Is that to say there aren't others that are excellent too? No. Is that to say that everyone needs something that expensive? Also no. Most people (maybe not most on this forum, but most people) are well enough served by most anything on the market.

Buy right, buy once. It has served me through thousands of rounds without a flaw.

The only problem I've had is getting it back when I let someone else try it.

Not at all.

I wanted a Noveske but talked myself into believing that it would be overkill for needs so I bought a M&P15A instead. I had no problems with the 15A whatsoever but my problem was I still wanted a Noveske.

So I sold the 15A to a friend and bought a N4 Light Carbine. My want problem was now solved and I have never regretted it.

The point is, even if you buy something else, you may still be left wanting a Noveske. If you want it, and can afford it, I say go for it and don't do what I did.

They've had them in stock for 3 weeks now plus they have some uppers. It nice to see things coming back again. Hopefully they'll get some more configurations in soon. I'm also continually checking for the next special edition rifle they do:D

Anything wrong with wanting a Noveske?

If there isn't anything wrong with wanting a slice of this-
http://rapidpics.de/wallpaper/Victoria-Silvstedt_2.jpg

The only difference is that you are much more likely to get your hands on the rifle at some point in your life (though mostly because the rifle doesn't have a choice) :D.

ETA- I have been made aware that this is somewhat sexist, so to even the score, ladies, you can click HERE (http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/spoon-taste-food-1.jpg) so you will fully understand the equivalent want. (Guys, trust me, you don't wanna click on it )

It's not clear to me why you would purchase the upper or complete weapon from anyone but Noveske. They offer a military discount. I would check with them on that first. You're gonna wait no matter what, better to save the money from the discount for other things, like a nice optic.

Good catch, I don't think that was there when I looked this morning. I'm waiting for the N4 Light Recce Low-Profile with Switchblock (http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=r-lrlp-556-sb&cat=47&page=1&search=&since=&status=).

No you are not wrong for wanting a Noveske. I wouldn't mind having one myself. But my E-7 pay doesn't stretch that far. To bad you are still in country because Noveske has your rifle in stock with a two week lead time. http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?cat=47

Be careful over there and keep your head down.

Looks like I might be having the wife pick that up and have it waiting for me when I get home :D

She has already signed off on the deal because I have been saving a little bit every month since I left in Jan.

Thank you all for the links and the information.

Absolutely love my N4 Lite Lo-Profile, but would also consider an LMT or LaRue gun if availabilty and price were right.

Good point. I trust her too. She has picked up all kinds of PMAGS, a set of MBUS, a MIAD, an ASP/MS2. I think we have done pretty well so far, now if we can just land the Low Pro we will be GTG!
