View Full Version : What is a good chest rig
Just wondering what is a good chest rig to get to hold AR mags and ammo. Pics if you have em.
I like the Eagle FB M4 Chest Rigs, but you'd probably get a better response in the Tactical Gear section of the Forum.

I'm researching the same right now. Look in the gear section of the forum, as there are many good threads on this subject. My advice would be to really think about what you are going to use it for. How many mags do you need to hold? Do you need to carry other shit too? I say this because they range wildly from way more mags than I need, with beverage holders etc., to basic three mag units. I think I'm going with a basic SKD.
I have this http://www.skdtac.com/Eagle_Chest_Rig_Universal_SKD_p/eag.567.htm and I love it. Very solid construction and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Ive been very impressed with Tactical Tailor products. They have a modular assault vest MAV system that works great and I recently added a bib to gain an aditional panel for pistol mags and admin pouches.

Ive also set up a Mini-MAV for shorter days on the range ...
I recently bought a TT 1-piece MAV with a 3-mag shingle and X harness. There are a lot of good choices out there, do a search in the gear section and you'll see lots of expamples.

I also have the Eagle/SKD tac chest rig and I've used it over the last 2 years for several classes and a bunch of training. It's a very well-built rig that is good for a pretty light and streamlined approach to carrying 8 AR mags and 4 pistol mags. However, I did have to mod mine to make the pistol mag pouches into individual pouches by cutting the two front flaps up the middle and then melting the edges.

S.O. Tech Hellcat. Mark 1 or 2.
CLHC beat me to it. That's a good topic with a lot of information. A search here on chest rigs should bring up many results.

This might help.

Take a look at the ATS M4 Modular Chest Harness.
I'm happy w/ my Shihan. It's a copy/improvement of the Eagle/skd setup.

I am currently using an HSGI Weesatch. Not only is it a chest harness, but it has the availability for plates if you wanted to upgrade later and get some.
