I did a bit of research before I bought but not a whole lot so I hope I did alright and judging by what I have read here since I bought it I think I did.
The setup is as follows:
BCM complete lower
BCM M4 carbine length upper
DD BCG
Troy BUIS
ERGO Suregrip
M4 handguards (not sure of the make)
I had to steal my brother charging handle since the one I ordered is out of stock but it will have a PRI GBCH.

Sorry for crappy pics but I am no photographer. The bolt is staked but I can't get a good picture to show it.

How did I do? Anything you would change or add? I have an EOTech but I think I am getting rid of it since it doesn't work. As soon as I put it together I went out and shot 80rds of 193 and after sighting it in I was punching out the X.

Also, I think I need to thank Grant and anyone else at G&R Tactical for putting up with my many questions and bugging you about the order. Excellent customer service and I will definitely go back to G&R for future purchases.

Sweet lead-slinger, bro.

The only thing I'd add is some sort of light, which is dependent upon what you're looking for in this particular weapon.

If you get the EOTech to zero, I'd slap it on there, of course.

If you ditch the EOTech, I'd save up for an Aimpoint T-1 or an H-1, or possibly Trijicon's RMR.

She needs a sling. Again, dependent on your needs/wants/uses/etc.

Your research paid off, because you have about the highest quality basic carbine that one could buy.

Very nice indeed.

You did well.

FYI, there is no real need for a gas buster charging handle unless you're going to run your weapon suppressed. A normal CH will do, they are inexpensive and will save you some coin if that's a concern. I'll echo what the others have said, get a decent Red Dot Sight and a light and you'll be GTG. If you have limited experience with the platform, I suggest learning and getting very comfortable with the Iron sights first, then the RSD.

Thanks. As to the sling, I put a GI web sling on there after the pictures were taken. I can use it like a two point sling similar to a VCAS (which I plan on buying later) but I can also use it as a loop sling for a marksmanship aid. I know it isn't ideal but I had it sitting around so I decided to throw it on.

Honestly, I don't know why I bought that but it really isn't that much more since I would have bought the big latch if I didn't get that. Oh well, I guess now I have to buy a suppressor...

Very very nice first rifle. The GB CH, like was stated before is not necessary.

I was able to snag one of the newer LMT CH and this will fit the ticket for what you are looking for at about $25. The problem is finding one. I would just use a standard CH until you can grab one of these.

A good white light and figure out what optic works for you. My advice, ditch the EOthingy and practice the irons. Save while you practice and train and grab an Aimpoint.

Rancid,

You have learned well young grasshopper and there are some people out there who could learn from you. If you would please do the following. Break down the cost for the items that you purchased so that we can get a good snapshot of the cost for comparison. Thanks.

If you're not going to use a can, I would actually NOT use a gas buster.

For slings, my order of preference, from inexpensive to more so, would be:
Boonie Packer 1-1/4" 2P-TQA $16 shipped (http://www.redi-mag.com/Shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=10&idcategory=7)
Blue Force Gear Victory 2-point $36 plus shipping (http://blueforcegear.com/product.cfm?type=cat&cat_id=5&prod_id=92)
Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Application Sling $60 plus shipping (http://blueforcegear.com/product.cfm?type=cat&cat_id=5&prod_id=79)

Get yourself a front side-sling adapter that mounts at the FSB or use a 6.25" Blue Force Gear UWL (http://blueforcegear.com/product.cfm?type=cat&cat_id=5&prod_id=81) at the barrel nut.

Why? I'm just wondering because I already have one ordered from Grant but they aren't in stock yet. I didn't know anything about them when I ordered and I figured that it is only $40 extra for what (with my very limited knowlege) looked like a better part.

Grant, if there is a reason why I shouldn't be using one (assuming that the part hasn't shipped yet) can I cancel that part of the order?

No reason at all. They are on the pricey side, but that is about it. They have one of the better designed latches on the market IMHO.

Top that thing off with a Vickers 2pt and a T1 and you'll be set!

Rancid,

So if we subtract the magazines and the Ergo grip you are right around $1039.00. Which puts you at $1150.00 which is very close to the price of Bushmaster, Oly Arms and DPMS. Hmmmm.........

Fixed the SNAFU had a brain cramp.

Rancid,

So if we subtract the magazines and the Ergo grip you are right under $1000.00. Then we add a BCG which puts you at $1150.00 which is very close to the price of Bushmaster, Oly Arms and DPMS. Hmmmm.........

He had a DD BCG listed.

His post had me confused as well but it works out since the mags/grip only cost a total of $102.

$1199.00, +or- $50, gets you a stock Colt 6920 these days(minus, the mags, buis, and grip of course). The fact remains, their are way better alternatives to never buy a bm, stag, oly, or dpms. Now that the current panic is over, those who are in the market for an AR are all out of excuses.

Ok, looking at some sights to replace the EOTech that I never got to use I have a couple of questions regarding the suggestions in this thread. For the most part I just want to know what the difference between the H1 and T1 Aimpoints is. Also, can I cowitness my irons with these sights? What hight of LaRue base is best for these sights?
