Hey everybody I was just wondering how many of us have too many hobbies, I know I do. How do you all manage your time between them all? I work 6 day weeks 12 hr days on top of being a dad to a 7 month old. The things I call hobbies are what I spend my free time doing / reading about. here is what I spend my time on how about you.

14 months ahead of you with one little girl. My boy is due on or around her 2nd birthday. MY newwest hobbie is hammock camping, wow men. ... . all those years on the ground and now my eyes are open. I hear guys say "I did enough of that with __insert your favorite branch___, but good night! I have never slept so well outside. . . . makes me feel 6 again. Motorcycling and putting rounds down range is plenty to keep me busy beyond the obligations of life. Guess I knew when to say when.

Semipro musician, audio production, motocross, snomobiles, snowboarding, skateboarding, smallbore rifle competition, hunting, airbrushing, and good time in the gym blah blah blah then I enlisted.

Im looking to add Pistol comps and photography to that list. I want a nice digi SLR even tho its way too much camera for me. Ill probaly be trading the dirtbike/skateboard in for a sportbike or softtail in the distant future.

I used to, kids and work are pretty much the main parts of my day now. I get one day a week to go shoot if I'm lucky and I'm down to three trips to the gym. There's a gym at work that's free so I use that before my shift, but I work nights and my wife works evenings so I can only go when she gets off early or isn't working. We're starting school next month and doing work/study through the VA so I'm hoping to have more time then, but somehow I doubt it.

I have 4 kids - ages 8, 5 (twins) and 3. "Surving the DAY" IS my hobby somedays!

I used to have a TREMENDOUS Boy Scout patch (Order of the Arrow) collection, that, when my oldest hit Cub Scout age, I decided to sell off (save for the stuff I've earned, and Lodges where I've been a member). 1) Because I'd kinda hit a wall, vis-a-vis what I could afford and didn't have yet, 2) Because I inherited an old Dodge Ramcharger (I keep telling myself, "the truck was FREE, the truck was FREE"...), that my mechanic and I are restoring to BE 'The War Wagon - a nice 'get out in the countryside' 4x4 for the boys and myself as they get older (a nice BoV too, I might add ;)), and 3) seeing the writing on the wall with the 2006 elections, I decided to get serious about firearms again.

I'd kinda been on 'autopilot' since going back to grad school in '01, and moving here in '03, but, as we've recently seen, eternal vigilance is the price we pay for freedom. Feel free to dock me a day's pay for nappin' on the job... for 5 years.

p.s. - after church this morning, my old boss from WV and I are going to the Pirates game! Not exactly a 'hobby' per se, unless you count watching Pirate's games as a form of S&M...

Martial arts (Thai boxing, BJJ, Judo, JKD), shooting, hiking, cycling, & collecting music. I would like to get into fencing, or kendo but I have to research to see if there are competent instructors in my area... There's a guy who is well known in the knife fighting community named James Keating. He owns a school called comtech (combat technologies) and he's one of the few people in the USA considered an authority in Bowie knife fighting techniques!

With 2 boys playing baseball I just about live at the ballfields. They 12 yr old just got done with l.l. all stars and they went 4-1 in the district tourney against some very good teams. 4 days a week practice and 2 games a wk for each of them. I try to get to the range on sundays when I can and maybe during the evening on the off days.

I have more hobbies than I can afford. I don't have kids but my dog takes up a good bit of time and you'll see me under the same screen name on too many forums. Most of them shooting related but not all. My hobbies include shooting, home theater and audio, cars, computer systems (former career) and gadgets, photography, and politics.

Not too much time for myself with work & 3 kids (15, 7, 5) and the 7 year old has been fighting leukemia since Sept 07. I have managed to work in some of my hobbies with thier interest....or should I say I worked thier interests into my hobbies:D

The oldest is spending a lot of range time with me.

The 7 year old is in the Cub Scouts so I get some outdoor time with him teaching field skills.

Around Christmas we set up train sets so all of the kids help build the set up, villages and so on.

Boats - thehulltruth.com

I'm not into boats really but this has got to be one of the best website names ever:D

No kids here but my job does take a great deal of my time. I find that while I have a number of hobbies it seems the focus rotates every 3 months or so and one will get more attention to the others. For me some of the big ones are:

M4C - guns
sigforum.com - more guns
iwsti.com - Subaru STi
bladeforums.com - knives
edcforums.com - general everyday carry gear
slashdot.org - news about everything but with a tech/geek spin
and random camping sites - always on the look out for sweet new lightweight camping toys.

Its funny; while my time may be stretched thin between my hobbies; its the cash that often seems more of a problem than the time.

I retired for the 3rd and final time last October. I have less time for my hobbies now than when I was working. I used to have a plan and schedule - everything fit a time slot. Now, the only thing that fits is the HONEY DO list projects. I shoot IDPA, USPSA, 3 gun, Bullseye and plink, I boat, fish, ride MC and play with sport cars. I would have expected to increase the time spent on these especially with no work and no children. But between visitors/guests here at the lake, travel to see the kids, house projects, physical fitness - I seem to be doing less hobbies.
I'm not sure but the days appear shorter as I get older - bearly enough time for naps!!!!!!!! Enjoy your children - they grow up too fast! Then they get families of their own and jobs. Tough to find time to shoot, hunt and fish with them more than a couple of times a year.
