Well, I have been shamed by this thread: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=80

I added night sights to my Glock 17. I took it to the range today and here are the results.

This is a drill I used to perform everytime I went to the range. I would do it cold and how well I did on the drill would determine what I did at the range that day. If long range accuracy sucked, I worked on it. If it was OK I did a little on the long range stuff and then worked on other things. If I managed to keep them all in the black, I'd do fun stuff like Bill Drills. Today, I warmed up first.

The drill is 10 rounds at 7, 15, and 25 yards. 7 yards is 10 rounds, one magazine as fast as you can keep them in the 10 ring. 15 yards is 5 rounds in two magazines as fast as you can keep them in the black. 25 yards is the same as 15 yards.

Two disclaimers, I have shot ONCE since I attended a Larry Vickers class in May, and that was for a range safety checkout at a Gun Club I'm attempting to join. The final target was shot at the very end of the range session and I had several bottles of water prior. In other words I was a bit "over-hydrated."

You'll see writing on the targets because I was recording what type of adjustments I needed to make to the sights when I got home. I forgot my sight pusher at home.:(

First up, my G17 with Ameriglo operator sights. What I like about the Ameriglos is POI for me is right where the dot is.

Next up, Glockenstein. Glockenstein is a G35 receiver, with a G24 slide and a 9mm to .40cal KKM conversion barrel. Like it's namesake, Frankenstein, it's green. ;)
Glockenstein wears a set of Meprolights which require a 6 o'clock hold of which I'm not fond.

As you can see both guns were shooting left. Glockenstein was really left and I tried compensating with the last target by shifting the hold to the right, which I believed opened up the group.

Edited to get the pic order right.

How about a picture of the new Ameriglo sights?

I know you've been looking at different handguns but it looks like you're doing quite well with the Glocks. You said yourself you've only shot once since May so maybe the only thing you need is more range time :p

Working on the Pics Marc.

I decided to stay with the Glock. It may not have the best ergonomics, but I have a screwed up body style to go with it.

I did order a Bar-sto barrel and am looking into a $30 milled take down lever to help it realize its accuracy potential.

I will say the Glockenstein has more inherent accuracy than the 17; although, the photos don't show it.

My photos suck, and don't do these justice. They are Ameriglo operators. Ameriglo is my go to company for handgun sights as I have had OUTSTANDING customer service from them every single time.

Night sights on the front only?

How do you like that setup? My G17 needs NS and I see Lone Wolf carries Americglo.

The rears have tritium as well. They aren't highlighted by a white ring in order to keep their signature down. It helps distinguish front from rear, and keeps the rear sights from flooding out the front sight. The latter is a problem with Meprolights, IMO, and I usually take a Sharpie to the rear sights on a Meprolight to do what the Ameriglos do by design.

I too have been very impressed with my Ameriglos. These are the Smooth Slopes. They have white rings arond all 3 dots. They are nice and bright too. Heres a pic that give you a good idea of how bright they are

The smooth slopes don't get pushed into the dovetail like normal sights. These ones use a clamping system. After about 500 rounds with them I can say I am impressed. The system seems to be solid so far.

DPort -

Having never seen you shoot first hand and just looking at what you've posted on the sight issue, do you really like that narrow front sight?

It may just be the pics but that sight looks very narrow which could casue a greater lateral/horizontal deviance in shot placement.

Have you tried anyone's Glocks with Trijicons or even the Glock Factory Night Sights?

As far as basic sights - with the Glock Factory non-night sights (the U-dots) I find that I end up cutting the front dot in half with the rear sight notch when I'm lined up across the top.

Shooting 20oz soda bottles down at 50 yards is pretty good accuracy from a stock pistol/stock sights (for me) including my G17, 19, and 26.

Just wondering about the sight choice/appearance in the pics...
