I made it out to the range today and a friend brought along a Arsenal SLR 106FR as seen here:
http://www.arsenalinc.com/articles/slr106/SAR_SLR106.pdf

It was the softest shooting 5.56 rifle that I've fired. I was impressed and will be looking for one. It literally felt like I was shooting 22lr. I'm guessing the main reason for this was due to the flash hider/muzzle break device.

My questions are:

Is there a flash hider/muzzle brake device for the AR15 that could give me the same benefits?

AND

What do you guys think of the Noveske KX3 Flash Suppressor?

IIRC DPMS use to sell a ak74 brake for the ar. I dont remember how well it worked. I've never concidered 5.56 to have much recoil.

The pig brake works well for noise and flash going forward. Not much help for keeping the barrel down IIRC.

the surefire break is of similar design and works very well.

so the recoil and report from 5.56 rounds bothers you enough to convert to an AK? Either way, check out PWS 5.56Flash Suppressing Compensator (100.00+/- a few bucks) and KAC Triple Tap (only this route if you dont mind spending 400.00+ for a FH/Brake)

I'm guessing the main reason was due to the weight of the weapon in comparison to most 5.56 guns.
