Can anyone tell me about NCSTAR scopes. I have a friend who swears by them, however I would like a broader view of opinions. Thanks.

Junk. I believe NcStar and Leapers are the same manufacturer.

I would take ANY name brand scope over these. Buy cheap, buy twice (at least). Tasco, Bushnell or whoever make superior products to these.

What are you looking at specifically? There is usually a name brand alternative that will cost you only slightly more, but you get a superior product.

Your friend swears by them or swears at them? :D
Don't waste your money on a NCStar.

NCstar is absolute complete garbage. anybody who puts leapers/ncstar/utg/tapco on their rifle shouldnt be allowed to own one. seriously.

i wouldnt put any of that shit on a $40 mosin nagant with pitted bore and bad stock.

the only experience i have with ncstar is a pair of huge 50x rubber armored binos.. the prism broke the second time i used them. wasn't even worth the $20 i paid.

NCStar really is kinda junky, but OTH the Leapers, i have had three of them break down, let me explain the three, it actually was only one to start with, the ACOG look-a-like, it broke but Leapers replaced it at no charge, that one broke and it too was replaced at no charge, the third one broke also and was replaced, the one i currently have is mounted on one of my .22LR rifles and has functioned quite well.., my guess is do NOT mount them on anything more powerful than a .22LR, the first two were mounted on my .499LWR, which is a very punishing rifle on scopes, they lasted about 300 rounds, the third one was on an AR-15 in 5.56mm NATO, it lasted around 500+ rounds, so far this last one has endured 2,000+ rounds of Winchester .22LR Power Points.

but my 5.56mm & .499LWR Carbines have $500+ scopes on them, here is my latest acquisition: http://www.countersniperoptics.com/photo/60.jpg

at Weight: 1 lb. 10.1 oz., there is some very heavy duty construction, comes with a "Cantilever" type mount, has a 10 year unconditional warranty, it is mounted on my .499LWR and waiting for my weekly range session.

Which Barska models?

I was also looking at a Bushnell Trophy 1x32 that is an ACOG look-a-like at $199. Any info on them?

My initial pick is a Nikon Monarch with 1-10 MOA dots user selectable at about $230.

Obviously not trying to over-invest in a red dot optic!

NCStar is at least as good as CounterSniper optics.
