Just a heads up...if anybody shoots this, it seems like a fairly good price. The 20-round boxes run $12.99 at a few of my local gun shops.

They are $10.99 per 20 or 9.99 if you buy 10 boxes or more at Natchez Shooting Supply. www.natchezss.com

That's still pretty high, man. I paid 9.89/box from Midway a couple months ago (mid-panic). And that wasn't a great deal, just all that was available. Even Natchezz has it back down around 9.99/box for 10+ boxes now, and they got redonkulous with it during the height of the panic.

Last year at this time i paid $6.99 a box. I thought that was a bit much.

Those prices are absurd. Especially for that damned ammo.

I forget where I found this site but is has come in VERY handy in my ammo searches. I think I just got some Federal XM193 by using this site for about $9 per box recently.

I hope that worked. The link is to AmmoEngine.com. I hope this helps.

575.00 a case? Ouch, my ass hurts. I've seen it on Gunbroker for far less than that.

Not that I want to discourage folks from sharing ammo sources, but if it's above $0.40 per round for XM193 ($8.00 a box) it's not really a great deal.

Thank goodness for reloading. I can load m193 for less than $3.50/20. I couldn't afford to shoot much, if I had to buy. Bullets are the most expensive component. I'm paying a little under $8/100 for m193.

Lets see, the other day I paid 165.00 for enough primers, 55gr bulk FMJ and powder to load 1000rds. I have the brass, so thats easy. Man I'm glad I don't have to buy .223 right now.

I saw some of that stuff at a local gunshop and I almost bought a box, but I didn't know if the cases had berdan primers or not. Anybody know if they are berdan or boxer primed?

Boxer primed, I've never seen any US made ammo with Berdan primers.

Thanks falar, bought a couple of boxes to see how they shoot, if they suck, I'll just reload the brass anyway.

You'll like the brass, the only downside is having to swage the primer pockets. LC brass is my favorite (in this caliber, I use Win commercial for .308/7.62 NATO) and the only brass I would ever use for 5.56 pressure level reloads.

Care to share the source?

My prices were:
$44.99/1000 primers
$79.95/1000 55gr FMJ bullets
$87.96/4lbs of TAC powder
$14.90 tax
$227.80 Total

It still beats the daylights out of paying more than $.50/round. I have have a stash of about 5K that I paid less that $.18/round for delivered. It's very hard to stomach half a buck a round right now.

I just checked and I was a bit low, about 27.00 (sucks to get old). I don't mind sharing, but it won't help unless you're a local Denver person. He runs a big reloading company for all the local PDs but he doesn't ship. I spent:

40.00 on primers
59.50 on 3.5lbs of Varget
80.00 for 1000 55gr FMJ
----
179.50 subtotal
7.53 sales tax (4.2% out in the county)
187.03 total

So even then, 18.7 ain't bad, and I also have about 5k in commercial stuff that I bought back in the day and another 4K+ that I've put aside as I've reloaded. So I'm not hurtin.

There must be a lot of XM193 hitting the market again. I was at my local gander mountain and they have TONS of it, but it isn't moving very quickly at 14.99/20.

59.50 on 3.5lbs of Varget

Nice price on the powder! I'm gonna start buyin' bulk online. Even with the shipping and hazardous material charge, I save about $45 on an 8 pound keg.

Anyone care to share the reciept for reproducing XM193?

Longhunter- I'm using two loads that I'm real happy with. 26.5gr Benchmark powder loaded to 2.215oal. with cci magnum small rifle primers. I'm getting around 3210fps. Also using a load using H335 . 25.5 gr. Everything else the same. Velocity almost the same. Neither load is compressed....but darn close. No space left in case. Excellent loads IMO.
