I'm a self-professed M4 noob. I'm ready to cross over from fixed sites to red dot optics. I've found a deal on a 2x ML2, and now I'm looking to find a mount suitable for my flat top. I have a fixed front standard gas block front sight. I don't want to pay over $100 for a mount.

I have heard of people using a single Burris XTR scope mount in 30mm. They come in 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" height. I do not recall which one is best for absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness. I guess any other 30mm scope ring would work.

You can get a larue mount for $115 LT-150 http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=26
GTS did have them for sale at $103 just a couple of bucks more you can get a top of the line mount very close to your $100 budget.
