I will be going to the range on Saturday to zero my new 700SPS. The range (indoor) only goes out to 100 meters. If I want an absolute zero at 150 meters, how high (above the x-ring) should my strikes be at 100 yards?

Rifle specs:

Remington 700 SPS tactical
20" bull barrel, crowned
free float stock
.308 caliber (shooting mostly 147 to 150 grain bullets)
Leupold VXIII

This will primarily be a target rifle shot from a bench or a Harris bipod, with occasional use for hunting whitetail deer in NC. The reason I desire a 150 meter zero is that's the furthest shot (within 10+/- meters) I have from any of my stands.

I have seen ballistic charts on here for the 5.56 shot from various AR barrel lengths, but was wondering if anyone had any charts (preferably in metric meters) for the .308 cartrige.

Thanks!

I show a 170 Lapua at 2650 fps dropping 1.3" from 100-150. I don't have the Exbal with me to run the 150.

The 168/175's are the same.

Try this-you can make a range card--always verify!

For such a short range zero if you set it up to be 1 1/2" high at a hundred and you should be golden...

Its going to be hard to get a real zero for a range beyond what you shoot without knowing velocity and BC. You're only going to get close.

You'd be far better off keeping a 100 yard zero and using your elevation knob to dial corrections for extended ranges. Before attempting to make a shot on game, I would verify exactly how many MOA up you need to dial by actually shooting at that range. Once you can verify your chart by shooting in the field, make a range card and tape it to your stock.

If you advise on what factory load you are using and maybe Sunday I can get some info.

If you are zero'ed at 100, the drop at 150 is pretty much a moot point, you still be in the kill zone.

I've got the free version of Shoot from Remington. Using a 150gr Core-Lokt SP (BC of .314) the chart shows .79 inches high at 100yd for a 150 yd zero.
