View Full Version : Noveske 12.5" Question

I am just getting into the SBR world and wanted to know why more people dont use a 12.5" Noveske barrel? I do plan on putting a can on it sometime down the road but for the next year or so just run the KX3. Is there a reason that this is not a good set up? And would the extra inch of barrel be compensated for by using a smaller can like the Surefire? Thanks

I have only begun to research an SBR build, but I was under the impression that the 12.5" Noveske was pretty hard to come by.

People do use these barrels and they are a little harder to come by. I have one and it's by far my favorite upper. The 12.5 is an excellent happy medium upper IMO. Not too long or short; just right.

The 12.5" Noveske barrel is reliable as is. The KX3 really doesn't benefit it in any way. The KX3 really best suited for 10.5" barrels with small ports and weak ammo. For the same weight as a 12.5" w/KX3, a 14.5" or 16" midlength would be a better choice. 12.5" is also pretty nice if using a suppressor which slides over a few inches of the barrel like the Ops Inc 15th model or Surefire FA556AR (M4FA) Suppressor.

See I have found them on a few web sites, thats why I asked. Robb is always killing my ideas for the KX3 :D:D:D (But thanks for the spot on info that has saved me a lot of costly mistakes!!) Thanks for the info, I get to pick up the lower for this today!!!!

Do you have some type of fascination with this device? It really does not serve a very useful purpose on an AR, other that possibly increasing the backpressure on a VSBR. A better option would be a suppressor.

You know I did. Like most I think it looks cool. However I try to not do anything unless there is a reason for it. I have ran a few versions by Robb and he always sets me straight, which I am very gratefull for. The comment was meant as a joke on myself.:cool:
