View Full Version : Mag question
Is there a recommended limit to the length of time magazines can be left fully loaded while in storage? I assume there is a fatigue life limit to the springs and I would rather not risk damage to the mags by leaving them loaded if this is indeed an issue. TIA.

Most folks will probably tell you to just keep them always loaded until use, but with 28rds ofcourse. I do myself and have been doing it just like I was trained in the Army. You would put more wear and tear on them by unloading and re-loading at some sort or magical interval. The rounds slaming up against the feed lips, as opposed to them harmlessly slamming into the underside of the bolt carrier. I primarily use the Lancers and Beta-C mags. Both even work up here in Vermont wear it gets 30 below in the Winter.:)
I’m not taking any sides to the argument, but the following was the Army’s stance on Mag Springs as of June 2005.
