Is this a practice-only load, or is it reliable and consistent enough for carry (J-frame)?

Is it a harder cast bullet, with sharp shoulders? Hollow Base?

Thanks.

For duty ammo, most folks rely primarily on ammo from ATK, Black Hills, Hornady, Remington, Winchester; some loads from Corbon, HSM, and SSA are worthy of consideration, as in some cases are those from Lapua, Nammo, Norma, Ruag, and SNC/IVI (now GD Canada). Obviously, there are specialized boutique ammo vendors like Buffalo Bore, Garrett, etc... but these are not generally for issue duty use.

Canned heat = practice ammo.

If you want to use GA Arms ammo for carry, they have a line that duplicates the Speer Gold Dot loads, using all new components and the same bullet.

I think that there are some recent posts on this very site about "canned heat" breaking multiple guns, or at least being suspect as the cause to the destroyed uppers.

Myself, after casually reading those posts... I would steer far away from anything but canned tuna fish or canned baked beans.

Ive used can heat for years w/o ANY issue, i would not however carry it as an SD load, I prefer Federal, Remington and Speer for that

Good grief! Thanks for the link. I'll go with the top tier manufacturers.

Thanks again.

At least over my chrony, Double Tap's 6.8 loads are the most consistent with the smallest SD of any ammo I have tested - scary consistent.

These results give me some confidence in the company in general...
