Too bad we'll never see it as civillians.

The invisible hand of the market however brings you this (http://www.pof-usa.com/P-416/P-308-16-DD-CF-308%20CARBINE.htm):

POF's .308 Gas Piston AR. It's got a Mike Rock barrel and a Timney Trigger. Good kit.

...and this (info and pictures from the LWRC website).

The different options available will be:

-20" HBAR as pictured (minus suppressor and optics).
-16" Recce
-12" CQB

The 12" only really makes sense for the user that is stuck with using 5.56 and 7.62. We can do a shorter rail with the 12" or you can have the long rail and have the suppressor inside the rail for the SD look.

All barrels are 1/10 twist.

The 12" and 16" will have standard .308 gas blocks. The 20" has an adjustable gas block (suppressed, unsuppressed, and off).

Options for the stock are UBR or PRS.

Options for cans are Jet TI telescoping can (only adds 4" to the barrel) or the Gemtech can that does the same (in development).

If there is a market, Matech will do a .308 cammed BUIS.

The Designation for the weapon is the SABR. Sniper, Assaulter - Battle Rifle.

The 20" gun was taken to BW for some initial testing by a Tier 1 unit.

There were some suggestions they had which we are going to implement as this was built to their specs. The weapon shot sub moa. Reliability was good even without the adjustable gas block. The new cans from Gemtech and Jet were not done in time for this evaluation. This is the first weapon we used the longer gas system, and we did this for reasons of timing and reliability.

The weapon shot about 750 rounds suppressed black hills 175gr OTM at when we wrapped it up for the day. After examining the weapon I am sure it would have continued to fire suppressed for thousands of rounds. We need to find out. The suppressor was very hard to remove. There was carbon in the barrel extension and receiver from the bore due to the suppressor, but it did not effect function. The new Jet and GemTech cans will be tuned to the timing of the weapon to allow the can to contain as much of the gas volume as possible until the weapon chambers another round. There was less gas in the operators face with the can than with an unsupressed DI gun.
