Just came back from doing some disaster prep shopping at Wally.

I was listening to a report on NPR about the California Corrections System, and apparently the cops here in Georgia are seriously outgunned by their Californian counterparts.

I wish I had a link:

"Joe Officer, a guard at the correctional facility, carries a Mini-14 for when lethal firepower is needed. In addition to that, he carries a 40 MILILIMETER!!! sidearm, loaded with precision ammunition..."

"It's the shoulder thing. That goes up."

I can only dream of being "outgunned" because I only have a 40mm sidearm

Perhaps the press is thinking of a 'phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.'

Probably that new 40mm Glock semi automatic revolver.

I think the reason CO's are issued Mini-14's (AC556) is because accuracy in the yard is not a big issue, there are no innocent bystanders in a prison yard. I've had 2 Mini's and there is no comparison to a high quality modern AR.

That and you buy them at $350 a piece.

I had a Mini 14 GB at one time. Very A team.
I think that a magazine full of xm193 would have doubbled its value.

Maybe the guard figured out how to turn an M79 into a sidearm?;)

I will soon have two mini's.

They're fun little rifles. But I won't depend my life on them.

You need to clean out your ears.

"He is armed with a Mini-14...a 40 mm Exact Impact round and he has a 38 caliber revolver..."

They are talking about a less-than-lethal gun.

At the 2:00 minute mark.

I stand corrected. Between talking to my brother, and hearing the report, the two of us attempted to put together what we thought we just heard.

Thanks for the link.
