PRESS RELEASE: 8/21/2009 Silver State Armory factory relocating from Pahrump Nevada to Packwood Washington late September 2009.

Here are a few details about the factory move:

The current location for the factory is not suitable for expansion. We are moving from current 8000 sqft in NV to temporary 8000 sqft building while a new 12,000 sqft building is under construction. We will have a total of 20,000 sqft in 8-10 months enabling us to expand factory operations.
The new facilities will be D.O.D. compliant, enabling us to manufacture ammunition for government contracts.
We are currently operating with only one shift. We will expand to 2 shifts and then 3 shifts in order to meet the growing demand for SSA products in the 5.56, 6.8SPC and 7.62x51 calibers.
Lewis County Washington Economic Development Council has been instrumental in making this move possible. Lewis County has been very supportive of the move, supports the 2nd amendment and has many active hunting communities throughout the county. We would like to express our gratitude to Lewis County for their fervent support of our business and the industry in general.
Packwood Washington is located directly south of Mt Rainier and northeast of Mt St Helen's. There is a large Elk herd in the vicinity of Packwood Washington.
The new 12,000 sqft building will also have an underground range that will enable us to perform ballistics testing on a regular basis.
There are a few employees that will be relocating from NV to WA and then we will be hiring machine operators, machinists and quality inspectors at the new facility. We hope to employ upwards of 40 people within 2 years.
We have been ramping up production over the last few months in order to build up our brass inventory in advance of the move. The loading operations will be the first to move to WA State in order to maintain our delivery schedules.
Once we get firmly established in WA (6 months), we would like to have an M4Carbine.net member to head up a sportsman's club to meet at the factory on a regular basis. We hope that by establishing a club on-site, we can keep the M4Carbine.net community better informed with information and technical support about our products and the related issues that you have with your rifles and equipment. If you are located in WA, have an in-depth knowledge of ballistics and have some experience with public relations, you might be interested in heading this up. There will be benefits, if you know what I mean.
If you have any questions about the factory move, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. thanks!

Good for them.

I guess they'll have to change their name then?

Evergreen State Armory?!?! I could live with that! :) Too bad I have a job and little knowledge of ballistics besides bullets are faster than rocks.

Edit: I'd love to see the factory even if it doesn't come with any other benefits!

Why was the decision made to move from a free state to a communist one?

Why was the decision made to move from a free state to a communist one?

All counties in Washington State are not alike. Read the Press Release at the top of the thread if you are not familiar with Lewis County. Besides Lewis County being pro-gun, they have abundant quality labor and are building the facilities, test range and bunkers to bring us in. Not a bad deal at all and quite the opposite from where we are now.

Wow, sounds like you're quite familiar with our State.

Once you get out of the greater Puget Sound area, the politics of this state change pretty dramatically. Reasonable, even.

Get out of King County and Washington is good to go.

I would imagine some states are just like MI. Get away from Lansing, Detroit, Ann Arbor and it's all red. The UP, where I am, is vastly different from the LP. We have a higher per capita pistol ownership and CPL holder than the LP. In the UP, getting a CPL is a right of passage into manhood.

The only thing I know about WA that's plain weird is you can own a suppressor but you can't use it.

Washington has limitations on NFA and consistently vote democrat in national elections thus you are not a free state.

I guess I never figured that for an indicator. Learn something new every day.

What else would you use as an indicator?

I guess that depends on your definition of 'free'. If by NFA you're talking about paying extra money to a Federal agency so you can own a shorter piece of metal, then yeah I guess we're not free. Yeah, sure, the choice is there in other places, but I'm not exactly packing my bags just so I can run off somewhere else. If you'll excuse me, I'm headed off to the gulag. Ivan is poking his AK in the back of my neck, telling me computer time is up now.

The widely accepted definition of a free state is that of one which does not have any extra restrictions placed upon firearms beyond federal law.

> This sound quite interesting. Should you want to know how well your projectiles perform from a terminal ballistics perspective you can contact DocGKR (Dr. Roberts) as he is an expert on the issue. This will hopefully lead to fruitful analyses and interesting BG pics.
I meant this seriously and with due respect, of course.

Dave

Washington has limitations on NFA and consistently vote democrat in national elections thus you are not a free state.

Doesn't the "N" in NFA stand for "National"?

In Washington State, the choices in national elections are primarily decided by King and Pierce Counties (The Seattle-Tacoma corridor) due to the population, with results that are liberal. However, in state and local elections, where the citizens are actually heard more, Washington is a lot more like Montana or Idaho.

Just like the FFL is a Federal license but I can only do transfers and sell in Michigan. Go figure.

A lot of states are like WA. Wisconsin is red except for Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee. Michigan is red except for Detroit, Lansing, Ann Arbor. Illinois is red except for Chicago ans Springfield.

A lot of states ARE like that, held hostage by their urban majority. NY Has been like that since the late 1800's early 1900's when the Sullivan Law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sullivan_Act)etc were enacted. We can't keep retreating from this urban/antigun/entitlement mentality expansion- it is a kulturkampf & labeling places "communist state" and writing them off is the defeatest attitude that has gotten us to where we are today.

And where we are headed...

If relocating to WA makes sense to SSA as a company then good! It will hopefully strengthen the pro gun culture in that portion of WA. Many people have a very different view of the 2nd Amendment once they have $ invested in it. We've seen the opposite happen here as Remington, Savage, etc. have retreated from NY. :(

^ Well said. There are not good states or bad states. There are bad laws in good states. There are lots of good people in CA, Mass, and DC. There just aren't enough to change the laws/govt. We need to win over folks to the right side by showing some class, good sense and leadership, not alienate them because their state has rules we don't like.
