I am looking about for a vise block to do stock work. The price variance is tremendous -- $8 to $40 and up -- and, while I like to "buy nice," I also don't want to be taken to the cleaners unnecessarily.

I realize that the Brownell's is probably the best, but their are definitely very high end for a polymer block.

Any suggestions?

I actually bought the ProMag vise block for working on my lower. (Only thing by ProMag I own actually) I was on a budget. It did not break, and did what it was supposed to do which made me happy. I do not know if it can withstand long term use, but I am not cranking out lower after lower. I am curious to see what others say.

I got mine from Brownells. It's fine, but in the end it is still a block of plastic. I think you'd be fine going with something less expensive. Bushmaster has them for about $30.

The Brownell's was a little too pricey for me also. I went with the Schuster unit from ADCO.
