CAA stock saddle

I remember seeing a pic with the CAA stock saddle strapped on to the buffer tube of an AR pistol.

My knowledge on pistols is not the best, but considering the "attachment" is not technically a stock, is it legal to fasten one of these to your AR pistol buffer tube?

I would write to the ATF on it first.
That sounds like it could be interpreted that you have the intent of using it as a stock, and/or considered manufacture of a stock by using stock components.
I wouldn't want to test em on this.
For a $200 stamp you can slap a stock on it.
That's a hell of a lot less than a lawyer will cost you to even contest it.
