I just purchased a Colt LE 6920 and I just want to add a weapon light and I can't think of a good way to do that. I really don't want a rail system, and the FSB/Bayonet Lug rails seem like a really bad idea. What alternatives are there?

I understand that a lot of people are going for the DD Omega rail, but I love the feel of the factory hand guards, even though they move a lot.

Also on a side note, I have an Eotech 512 from a previous AR that I am thinking about installing on the Colt. Is it worth it to do that or is the factory carry handle sufficient?

Thanks,

Josh

Congrats on your new Rifle. You could go with a Surefire Dedicated Forend WeaponLight.

What is wrong with the bayo mount? See this thread:

You could add one of those small light rails to the handguards. Some require drilling and some mount in the holes. Another option is the FSB light mount rails. As far as the Eotech, I would rather use that than the carry handle sights. Just have to find a BIUS that you like.

Thanks for the links, the surefire handguard is awesome but its so expensive... I might just go the bayo lug mount.

The Surefire M500 can be found used for about $200.

You could replace the handguards with the Magpul MOE handguards, buy a bit of Ergo Polymer rail, a VTAC light mount and a Surefire G2 and come in pretty economically (plus the old handguards you'll be able to sell for $30 or so)...

+1

The nice thing about the Magpul handguards is that you can try options which would require a rail system before going and forking out $150-300 for one.

The M500A adds considerable weight to the rifle. I would go with adding a small rail (drilling required) or the FSB mount. As for the EOtech...keep it, and get a good BUIS.

Code 4 Law Enforcement sales have law enforcement trade-in Surefire M500A Weapon Light Forends for $300.
