Can anybody point me to gel tests with .380 fmj? I'm looking at penetration depth of .380 fmj the normal IWBA or FBI test.

While purely anecdotal, this (http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot26.htm) MAY suggest that it penetrates in the neighborhood of 8" from a P3AT.

17 inches or so is not uncommon.

What are the advantages of using a non expanding (in many countries you are restricted to them) higher velocity/weight/energy 9 mm bullet like 38 spl+p or 9x19 vs the humble 380?

Obviously the more powerful rounds have better intermediate barries penetration, and can break larger bones, etc., but what about typical performance on humans? Are more powerful rounds still much better when restricted to FMJ or cast bullets.?

Not much difference in soft tissue; can be a big difference with bone or intermediate barriers...
