Harry Reid said that paying tax is a voluntary act. That explains why obalamadingdong's cabinet is full of tax cheats.

I can't even describe my feeling towards a man with that level of ineptitude "serving" (and I use that term VERY loosely) as a representative for anyone.

For democrats, at least the high ranking ones, it certainly appears to be. Rangle, Geitner, etc. I find it ironic that the chairman of the committee that writes tax laws and the secretary who oversees the function of the IRS cannot seem to comply with the tax laws.

Of course, I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding and there was no intent to defraud the government of their precious revenue. The IRS seems to agree with me on that because they haven't gone after either individual.

It would be nice if the IRS was as forgiving and understanding with the rest of us, wouldn't it?

Of course it is voluntary. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to keep Federal code enforcement agents from taking our property and liberty in exchange for our failure to voluntarily comply with their regulations.

Apparently, some senior Democrats do, which makes the rule of law cruel joke.

It ain't about liberal or conservative or Republican and Democrat; it's about rich and poor! Red state, blue state, my ass. The only color that matters is GREEN.

In the immortal words of the "Queen of Mean" (Leona Helmsley), "We don't pay taxes. Only little people pay taxes."

I would be willing to swear on a stack of Bibles that I saw the word 'voluntary' used to describe it in the package sent to me by the IRS last year. But as we all know, and have all seen, 'voluntary' means whatever the Government wants it to mean.

Wonder what shape President Obama's 'volunteer' force will take shape as?

"I want bailed out in the wake of a natural disaster!"

"I want to be defended from foreign invaders!"

"I want free healthcare!"

"I want a check from the governement when I retire!"

"I want to be payed not to grow (insert crop of choice here)!"

Sorry folks, but you all have to pay for it somehow.

Well now that would be the definition of a society with a government now wouldn't it? But that's socialism damn it!

funny how that works, huh?

My Grandpa taught me that nothing in this world comes without a price and that we live in a world of compromise; you have to give a little to get a little.

Government services are kinda the same too.

how is it our government was able to function without income taxes for 150 years, if income taxes are necessary?

people forget there was no income tax before 1913. the constitution prohibits it.

Oh no no no, It couldnt have been on purpose. The laws were just, worded very confusingly:rolleyes: So lets see here, how many people have stepped down now out of Barry O's administration. 4? As much a some think Bush screwed up in his 8 years, could you IMAGINE what the libs would have said if just 1 person got caught doing what some of the people in Obama's admin have done? They would have slaughtered him left and right. WTF is going on? Its like someone flipped a damned switch since this guy's been president! Its like welcome to the circus de USSA - Population: 300,000,000:eek:

"how is it our government was able to function without income taxes for 150 years, if income taxes are necessary?"

Back in the "good ole' days", before income taxes, our country was small. Things were simple back then. Our government was small too and easier to fund. Back then we could fund our government solely on duties on imported goods. That is easy to do when you don't have a lot of imports and exports, you can place import duties on all imports because you don't have a lot of them. As your economy grows larger and more complex that economic model no longer works. The more you trade with other countries the more you have to lower or eliminate your import duties to compete with other countries; you are forced to derive your governmental funding internally. We aren't the only country to do this, they all have had to as they've grown. Be glad we don't have an IVA, or a value added tax instead.
