first of all i want to say hi to everyone, been a lurker for a while & decided to join. my question is i'm in the middle of a build & need advice on a few uppers configurations i have in mind. i have a sabre defense lower with an lmt lpk, milspec rec.tube & magpul ctr. one option is a sabre defense complete midlength upper ad a rr sight & be done with it. other option is a daniel defense m4 barrel with a cmmg piston kit, flattop upper. to be honest i'll never shoot this as much as i want to or attend a carbine class. i just want to put together a quality ar without going overboard. your opinions are appreciated, thanx:confused:

if your new to AR platform, i would suggest stay away from piston and go with DI upper, have you thought about buying a complete BCM upper?

back in the day we use to build the shit out of ar's, of course that's when bushmasters were the shit. alot has changed since then.i'm not looking at re-inventing the wheel by using a piston kit, i;m wondering if it's a viable alternative or not. have been on bcm's website but never saw their products up close & personal. looked at lmt also but had some issues with a lower that they did make right. i do want a 1/7 cl barrel though, figuring 700-800 max for an upper.

I couldn't agree more. This is what I have and it makes me smile every time I pull the trigger.
