Can I get my gun parkerized in od green without compromising, it's functioning? If so any recommendations

Check with Dave Bowie at Bowie Tactical. I'm sure he could do it for you if you don't want to do it your self.

I don't even at 43 years old I need to learn a lot more about guns, I have maybe 1% of the knowledge that the majority of the members have here

Parkerizing is normally Zinc Phosphate (Gray) or Manganese Phosphate (Black).
I have had luck with Zinc Park by prolonged baking of Cosmoline covering the park to aquire the green color as seen on old M1 Garands at gun shows.

The easiest solution as said above would be to paint over the park.
Having access to all the equipment for refinishing I had this one painted OD over a fresh park job.
